Golf. The Players Championship starts soon, and there's not much value in backing the obvious Tiger Woods. I quietly fancy (in a non-sexual way of course) Jim Furyk, currently at 20/1 at BlueSq. You can get 1/4 the odds on an each-way bet for the first five places.

Six Nations Rugby Union. Back Ireland (+7 pt start) and Italy (+15) to beat the handicap this weekend, both at 10/11 at BlueSq. Edited by halfmanhalfslug (28 Mar 2003 11:26am)

Furyk placed for a nice little profit, and Italy beat the spread as predicted. The Irish let me down though.

Some incredible value available on England's next match. Given that Turkey finished 3rd in the World Cup and we can't even beat tiny East European nations, I'm getting all over the 10/3 offered by BlueSq.com on a Turkish win. A small saver on 21/10 the draw is recommended. Draw half-time / Turkey full-time is worth 9/1, and you can even get 4/1 that the Turks lead at the half-time break. Barring a major change in England's form, this should be nailed on.

Did they not watch the game on Saturday???

Worth a punt today -- Barathea Blazer (Nottingham 3.45). Finished just outside the places, dammit. OKnotOK, I suspect the odds on the England match reflect the usual patriotic punt on England no matter what, rather than the form book.

An each way bet is actually TWO bets -- one bet to win, and one to place. Depending on the type of event and number of runners, you could get paid on places from 2nd to 5th in a horse race. The returns on the place part of the bet are always lower (usually 1/4 or 1/5) than the win portion, as it's more likely that it will happen. I hope that's clear but if not, I suggest a Google search for betting terminology!! If you want to bet on Wales to win their Euro 2004 qualifying group, you could do a lot worse than clicking on the BlueSq.com link on this site's home page.

David Beckham has scored in every one of England's Euro 2004 qualifiers so far. He is available at 10/1 for the first or last goal, and 3/1 to score at any time in the 90 minutes. Edited by halfmanhalfslug (02 Apr 2003 4:03pm)
