You talk about a lack of ambition - ok, would you care to share what you think Palace should be aiming for and how you think they can achieve it ?

The BBC report that the deal is £50m with a sell-on fee and yet neither club has announced it which appears strange to me.

Next season is all now about survival, if we keep Wilf and all the rest of the players and don't sign anyone except a couple of loans we will be mid table, sell him we will struggle to survive, right back and striker loaned is what is needed.

This time this year is a different situation, Sell Wilf then, sell Sakho and Benteke off the books no high earners left and plenty of options and money to rebuild.

It's a bad deal all around.Parish wanted £60m. We got £45m + £5m
Parish wanted 25% Wilf clause dropped. They said no.
We didn't need to sell, player said he want to go so we sold.AWB was on £10k is now on £80k but most players signed for over m are on £200k. Walker at Man City, Benteke, Sakho even Cabaye was on more when we got him for £10m.AWB is a pretty poor wage deal considering.Man United are the winners. Parish backed down, AWB accepted less than he deserved. That's my summary.

AND this time next year he will be worth £75m. A big mistake not to keep him for another year.

49 clubs have been in the Premier league since it started. There are currently 20 places in the league. The "top 6" are untouchable in terms of revenue and spending power, unless another club gets taken over by a sovereign wealth fund (Norway anyone?) to use as publicity without any concern about losses.

Only 19 teams on that list have more seasons than us, and that includes 7 clubs who are now not in the Premier League. Only 6 teams on that list have never been relegated. This is the first spell we have had in the Premier League without getting relegated after one season.

There are a number of posters here who need to get a sense of perspective. The whole tenor of this board has changed since we have had a long spell in the top division. We have no divine right to be here, and all 14 teams outside the top six are in danger of being relegated at any time.

Yes I know some here are bored with the "I've watched Palace for 50+ years in all divisions" group, but at least we are supporters who watch the club wherever they are in the league. There is a generation of fans who have grown up knowing nothing but the Premier League, grown up watching wall to wall football on tv, and think that life only exists in the Premier League.

Will I disappointed if we get relegated? of course I will. Will i still support Palace? of course I will.

Look again at that list of 49 clubs, and enjoy what we have whilst we have it. We are more successful now than we have ever been. We have some of the best players we have ever had. The moaning that goes on here is just unbelievable.
