A spelling or grammatical error is different from repeating the same thing and then calling it debate. He doesn't raise any points, just grumbles. He's not possible to engage with. If he came up with viable alternative suggestions or solutions to keep the masses happy, me and others would welcome the opportunity to discuss it with him. Anyway, I've let myself come embroiled in a personal battle which I'm backing out of. I'm not helping the discussion.

A bit harsh It's a common mistake If everyone that made a spelling mistake were discounted on this site there would be very little debate Albeit I do revel in pulling up some of those that take themselves more seriously than I believe they should! If the HF are hell bent on moving to the centre of the Holmesdale, why not give them the seats at the front behind the goal. It’s the worst view in the ground, but it won’t bother them as they are busy singing and waving banners. They will be very visible on TV.

Persistent standing (impossible to police) will piss off those behind who prefer to sit.

Is the crucial point here. Apart from the HF having a hissy fit(which did mean that they achieved their goal - which leaves a bad taste in the mouth), this whole situation is not really their fault. They wanted to move/expand as a group, so they went to the club to propose a solution. The Club have played this badly from the start. From blankly saying No to the HF, to them then bending over and lowering their pants after being hit by the HF's Toys, to then offering the affected fans a derisory and short-termist compensation package.. All the while seemingly not able/bothered to talk to the fanbase. The club has dealt with this very badly and have compounded this at every stage. Firstly having said No to the HF they should have stuck to this (right or wrong) and not back tracked as this now means all such decisions are reversible. The club then failed to consult fans about a singing section, Did Season ticket holders want one? If they did how many wanted to be part of it? and then where should it be. In my view it is the size of the demand that determines this position. The club seems to have decided this based on the demands of the loudest pressure groups. If the club had carried out the survey and found out the vast majority of fans wanted the singing section, and that 400 people wanted to take part in it then they could have moved forward. People would still had to move but at least then there would be the argument that it was a democratic decision. As other people have said the current solution carries a very real possibility of that part of ground being closed on safety grounds. This also has a knock on to taking part in safe standing trials (which will be done by individual club risk assessments) CPFC will have to prove that they have managed this in new area whereas in Block B this was essentially proven - most safe standing trials will be in corners. The Club has an active planning application for new stand and this can now be re-opened dues to these changes. The other point that has been made is compensation and packages for those being moved. The actual detail on these from club seem sketchy at best. The suggestion has been made on here of a free season ticket for next season. How would that be funded? We seem very close to FPP rules so any perceived reduction in income is unlikely to be popular with club. The whole situation is a mess

The whole situation is a mess This has to be the most thought out an sensible way to put things. Well done Palace in the blood. It makes a change from all the petty bickering that's been going on all because the kiddies threw their toys out of the pram. The oldest trick in the book and Steve Parish fell for it.
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

Yeh agreed there. Parish has ballsed this up from the get go, but then what do we expect from the man who hired FDB. The club is run with a total lack of joined up thinking in many, many areas. Both sides of this debacle have not covered themselves in glory, but putting everything aside, the HF do hold some power over Mr Parish, and they also got lucky with our home form earlier this year. Parish should have thought about it, spoken to the stakeholders and then made a decision and stuck to it - that is what leadership is all about. Instead everyone was kept in the dark, half decisions were made, then reversed....total schoolboy stuff, much like most of our transfer windows. I hope everyone directly impacted can just move on and put this in the rear view mirror by the time next season comes around. One thing unites everyone which is we all love this club and we want the most success on the pitch possible. This thread size must be getting near that legendary one on Wayne Hennessey.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

Regardless of the roundabout way its come about, If Parish didn't think it had massive benefit, it wouldn't be happening.
