I'm impressed there are so many experts here on buying football clubs and making them into profitable enterprises.

There's me thinking it's probably a hard job, with loads of volatile variables (like insecure footballers, greedy agents and fans with insanely inflated expectations).

Once again I'm wrong. It's a doddle. Anyone could do it.

In fact, I'd have bought Palace myself only, er, I've got flat feet and the doctor said I've got a cute angina.

It's me nerves, y'see. That's why I drink and smoke so much

Nobody said it was easy but their investment was protected. That’s a fact.

Anyhow that’s for the parish thread if you want to debate this again.

Sign this if you want to nudge Parish to get this sorted out more than that awful club statement. 870 signatures so far.

I stress here the wording...

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, offered the Homesdale Fanatics (HF), room in block E of to progress their support of the club and displays.
He later went back on this promise and the HF are no longer at Selhurst this season as an organised group.
Atmosphere at Selhurst this season has been markedly worse, and the team are yet to win at home.
We the undersigned respectfully ask Steve Parish to work with the HF to find a solution, this season and get the support back that the team deserve.

To understand ultras - knowing their ethos is a start. Far cry from the casual scene.

Taken from Wikipedia:

Ultras are a type of football fan renowned for ultra-fanatical support. They are predominantly followers of association football teams.

The behavioural tendency of ultras groups includes the use of flares (primarily in tifo choreography), vocal support in large groups and the displaying of banners at football stadiums, all of which are designed to create an atmosphere which encourages their own team and intimidates opposing players and supporters. The use of elaborate displays in stadiums often is common, as well.

The actions of ultras groups are occasionally extreme and may be influenced by political ideologies such as conservatism or socialism, or views on racism, ranging from avowed nationalists to anti-fascist.[1] In some instances, this goes to the point where the passionate and loyal support of one's team becomes secondary to the theoretical ideology of the ultras phenomenon.[2] In recent decades, the culture has become a focal point for the movement against the commercialisation of sports and football in particular.[3]

We may have a situation of a load of E willing to move and HF plus more move into E.

Rubbish,
buying a Championship for a song, scrub that, a quarter of a song! This was no risk at all. He was only shouldering a quarter of the finacial burden, if it went pear shaped it was a financial hit he could afford to take, if it went to plan which it did the financial rewards were/are massive. Of course it was an investment. EVERYTHING a businessman puts money into is an investment whether good or bad. This one was pretty good wouldn't you say?

We was losing 10 million a year in the championship, it would be like putting half of everything you own on millwall to be prompted to the prem within the next 5 year' at 50/1.

and just to add, I didn't make the FA cup final, although it transpired later, I had enough Parish points.
What checks (if any) are made on Parish Points for people dressed in black ?
