Honestly I had been doubting my own sanity as I have mentioned it to other people and they have looked at me rather blankly. I googled it today and this thread came up. Funny seeing the descriptions of people in fancy dress as one of the most vivid memories I have of that day other than sitting on this wall and horses charging about is seeing over people's heads something like a grim reaper or skeleton in black which may have been a mannequin or model on a stick of some sort being held very high and waved around but I could never work out why someone would have that at a football match. Well now I know.

I was laid up with my leg in plaster, so couldn't go!! My Mrs came back from the shops and said there was a few scuffles up by the clock tower and a lot of fans in fancy dress around hours before kick off!!
A mate of mine who used my season ticket came back to my flat 10 minutes after kick off with blood pouring from a head wound, poor sod, he was a Bromley fan and didn't go to many proper games and that happened!!

I still have a scar on my arm to remember this by. To my pals great amusement (and it still gets mentioned,) I was slashed by a clown.

These new fangled scary clowns have nothing on the older ones...

Not funny but I Did just laugh at that. Sounds an absolutely crazy day for the people who fully realised what was going on

It was so unexpected - just a routine game against Brum - the Brum fans completely out of control like a riot - I was terrified.

Next day I worried the ground would be closed by the FA as it looked terrible on the news programs. Palace had no record of this unlike some places so maybe that helped.

One injured Palace supporter was heard to say, "Getting bashed up is one thing but getting bashed up by Henry Vlll & 2 nuns is beyond a joke!"

More than 20 BCFC supporters were later convicted at Birmingham Crown Court & a few received custodial sentences.

We certainly did, Inside the ground was one thing but they got a shock when they came out after the game to be greeted by the biggest mob i have ever seen at a home game and every lad was up for it after their behaviour in the ground. We ended up at Mayday after my pal broke his hand and the place was full of brummies. Several had been stabbed which was not a usual happening at Selhurst thank god.

The day of the game just before I left work for the Wilton my mrs rang me to say she had been discharged after the birth of our Daughter which meant I'd miss the game! so when the Mother in law suggested they go back to their house, I drove full speed to West Wickahm and then straight to Selhurst and heard all the aggro on the radio!I managed to get in as a steward I knew was on the gate.
Met up with the chaps who filled me in with what happened and so planned our retribution

A few of them were still giving it large in Thornton heath high street totally unaware they were about to get one of the biggest hidings of their lives
Fook it they out numbered when they attacked mostly scarfers before Kick off so the straggler scum bags got what they deserved .
