Being reported that Chelsea now interested Our best chance of signing him was a surprise swoop and get it done. Now we are playing our usual game of silly buggers and trying to get him as cheap as possible he will no doubt go elsewhere. Next ! Edited by BelfastEagle (28 Jan 2024 11.24am) If he's any good agents ensure that never happens in the modern day. It's inherently in their interest to ensure possible competing clubs know.

A Chelsea deal looks on the cards with a loan back.

The only problem with the Chelsea deal is that he won't be guaranteed game time at Chelsea and may spend a lot of time on the bench or be loaned out.

Blackburn should hold out for £25m now that they have big teams sniffing around. It’s a big sale for them and they would be stupid not to get the biggest fee they can. That will probably push us out of the race.

I suspect Blackburn are holding out until the last minute to get the best possible deal. It may also depend on tonight’s FA Cup result against Wrexham. With a money spinner at home to a wayward Newcastle side in the next round on offer they may want to keep him.

Just pay the money, it will look cheap if we avoid relegation. And he will have a sell on value.

If it is within rage, I suspect we can increase to, say, £22m. However, if the news of other interested parties is not just agent speak, our only purpose for staying in the race is to make those other parties pay more.

So frustrating that we always seem to dither and signpost other teams to the attributes of the player. Eze and Olise have both trebled in value so we have all the equity in the bank and we can’t fork out £23-25m for a player who might also double in value. Just bloody sign him.
