[Link] I can't help but feel there will be no desperate outcry to renew any of the names on that list. Not a popular opinion (apparently) but I am a Schlupp fan (just not on the wing), so perhaps him. The others, with no personal feeling just purely from a footballing perspective, I would not miss. That's all assuming we can replace them of course, which we may very well not be able to, and therefore may see several renewals.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I’m with the other chaps, we won’t be losing any sleep over that lot, love Wardy, but obviously struggling a bit at this level now, Schlupp’s okay(ish) and one we might need to keep. I can’t believe Ferguson and Riedevald are still here anyway

I think you keep Jeff and Joel as squad players.

Our squad is already thin and I just can't see us signing six or seven players in the summer (especially with FFP) so I would imagine players who are at least semi-regular this season will get new deals, whether we think they are that great or not. So Hughes, Ward, Schlupp and it wouldn't entirely surprise me if Clyne got another year. Matthews is basically a low-cost backup, although we actually get to find out if he's any good tomorrow. It sounded like he did ok in Scotland last season. Surely it's the end for Tomkins, Jairo and Fergie though (unless the latter makes a miracle recovery before the end of the season).

If Forest and Everton win this weekend we'll be 17th. Yes we have a cushion, but how long will that last? Edited by Dangermouse (15 Dec 2023 3.13pm)

Luton are getting better every game. Everton climbing up the table. we deserve a relegation battle, as a minimum.

Whilst we have issues of quality back up players and one or two first team players my view of the situation is that without multiple injuries to our key players we would not be having this conversation. Any squad outside the top 8/10 would be in the same situation as us with the loss of key players and would feel just as vulnerable as us. This. I’m clinging onto this and hope that when we get some players back especially Eze we’ll pick up some points. It’s never easy being a Palace fan, this season is bearing that out. We don’t have the money to win trophies, our achievement of eleven straight years in the Prem is something to celebrate and sets us apart from all but eight clubs. And it’s such an achievement because it means we survive seasons like this one. Keep the faith and COYP

Reality check required - we will not be going down - not this season anyway..!! At this moment in time - yes it looks bleak, but even if we get nothing from our next 3 games, we will not be going down..!! Get the walking wounded back and playing after that we will be fine..!! My take the current bottom 3 will be the final bottom 3 with a benchmark of 30 points. Question for me is how far do we finish ahead of these - this will all depend on whether we replace Roy and our January window transfer activity. We need a CDM - Doucoure out for the rest of the season and need a right back - both of these are critical. We still have our loan quota available, why this wasn’t utilised in the summer window I’ll never understand - given the threadbare make-up of our squad which has come to pass given the injury crisis we now face. So now we’re in a reactive phase (again) due to poor recruitment strategy. For my money - think the decision has already been made to replace Roy - don’t think it’s just the results - but more the stubbornness to introduce youth - which as I have said before is at odds with the strategy of the club, given the investment in the academy. I think we’ll see Lopetegui in situ either over the festive period or early in the New Year - reports that contact been made and discussions ongoing - and he has attended a number of Palace games. This IMO will be a good appointment. Them is my thoughts..!! COYP
