It was a misunderstanding which had consequences.Suffice to say, perfection is not in the human gift.

As for those pundits who averred that the decision should have been reversed even after the restart, this is not allowed under IFAB laws so they clearly are not knowledgeable on this matter.

The teams can agree though and just let a goal in. I believe that's happened before.

Yup, Arsenal V Sheff Utd, without looking it up think it was a relay of some sorts, because of an incident on the pitch, injury? As for your Q?, no they can't as current LAWS stand. Ifab rule, end of.

Southgate got it spot on in his interview, we all went, watched a match, went to the pub & gave the ref some grief. We still do that now, except the pub has been replaced by social media

only when someone scored a goal by mistake when passing back to opposition , it was human error simple it happens , didnt hear klopp asking for a replay when they got a pen that never was against us , so its learn from it make it clear the rules of discussion between Ref and VAR ,

we have worked at sometime and mistakes happen and you address that mistake , and put clear lines in places so its lessen the probability of it happening again , doesnt mean it wont

The Arsenal one was unusual because the Sheffield goalie put the ball out to allow one of his own players to get treatment. Arsenal took the throw in back them and Kanu (on his debut) intercepted the back pass and crossed for someone to score. It was against the convention but not against any rules.

Thank you TE, glad my braincells haven't given up on me, just yet.

More VAR absurdities yesterday, 6 minutes to decide whether Rodrigues was offside or not, dubious lines being drawn and alternating between green and red.

After all that offside, but really it's not with any confidence.

Manager O'Neill of Wolves, is 'not talking to them anymore' and who can blame him, for that to be a penalty after the checks? Well ridiculous how could that possibly have got through.

Howard Webb warned use of VAR is "regressing" after latest Premier League howler.

How can that be a penalty after the checking, it is absurd.

I'm not sure a lifeless organism such as VAR can be regressing, not that I am suggesting yourself or any other posters refer to it as such but the general commentary does certainly begin to sound as though this is the sentiment.

All it has done is show that despite having technology to assist with refereeing football games, the fans were right all along. The chants were accurate in: "You don't know what you're doing" and as we all know, "Sh!t refs, we always get sh!t refs". Turns out we always got them as none fitting of other descriptors have been in employment.

Every suspicion, muttered or shouted word, every grievance and doubt has been categorically proved. All we have left now are conspiracy theories of corruption. What we have proved however is the incompetence. Despite some poster's best defences, it has been exposed beyond any doubt.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Not sure if you fall into that category Eagleman but if so it was not a reference to yourself I was more thinking of another well established and well humoured poster who would take it without any offence!

I stand by the comments however, sack the lot 'em!
