I thought he had a good game against NF he needs confidence and could do with a few extra pounds but he is still only 20 . He will welcome those minutes played in the Premier League . Will he make it, his chances are better than most of the academy boys but the odds of making to the first team and being a regular starter are very slim only three players have done it in the last 13 years Zaha , Michell and Bissaka. I wish him well.

Wayne Routledge

He wa 20 years ago. Moses and Clyne would be better examples and would’ve played more if we hadn’t sold them.

For a moment there I thought I'd woken up from a dream wherein we'd ground out a 0-0, to find that we'd actually won 1-0.

He just needs game time, he needs to have a run of starts until Olise is available, he can create, at the moment Ayew and JRS need to play wide, and Edouard in the CF position.

The main reasons that JRS haven't started are his lack of experience, physical strength and defensive awareness.
Roy has alluded to these factors.
However, in the absence of Olise and Eze we do need a player who offers a trick or two and can go past people.
Furthermore, if we can get Doucoure and Lerma back together with our reliable defence then there's an argument that we would have enough solidity to give JRS a run of games, recognising that there will be some inconsistency in his performance level at this early stage of his career.

He just needs to start believing in himself and he will get there. He is quick, skilful and got the ball control, but he lacks the belief to take them on and go round them and shoot.
Give him his head and loads of encouragement and he could get there. The crowd really got behind him yesterday which really helped.
Get him to spend some time with Olise. He knows how to do it.

He learned a valuable lesson. 70 minutes against top defenders is harder than half a season against league 1 defenders. He grew into the game and needs to get a little more savvy to his position relative to where the ball may come forwards from. All in all we could have another AWB.
