It's heart-breaking and unbearable I know, and the opportunities not taken must be investigated for the future. We don't want a society where people are put to death in barbaric fashion out of revenge like Alabama. Don't forget they have occasionally been wrong. Far more people have been killed by released murderers reoffending than by the execution of innocent people.

I was thinking that torture and execution with this new method could not only spread to other southern states prisons, but into American society. Neither is it a deterrent, Alabama will continue to have a murder a day. Of course, we get outraged who wouldn't, but torture and murder by the state? No thanks.

Capital punishment ensures no repeat offence. If nitrogen is deemed cruel to use on a piece of murdering s*** then shoot him.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Japan get around that by restricting execution to certainties.....not convictions based upon probability. As this guy is on camera murdering people I'm more than happy for justice to be fast tracked.

The problem is he is a hazard to everyone around him. So how are they protected? Keep him bound or drugged up? A painless death would surely be preferable to everyone including him.

Japan is an extremely measured society, crime is low and reoffending rates also low. They execute certain guilt for barbaric crimes. In the UK if there was a referendum and the result was affirmative parliament would never pass the legislation as MP's don't feel a need to do what their electors want as the electoral system doesn't give them enough incentive to do other than act or their own desires. The Swiss system is half way there but is only reactive to legislation already in effect Meantime we have people who do the most terrible things and then live out their lives at considerable expense to the taxpayer. Who could not support death for things like the killing of Lee Rigby. Last yougov poll was 50% against, 40% pro and 10% unsure in 2022 Don't confuse revenge with accountability Edited by HKOwen (27 Jan 2024 9.16am) Edited by HKOwen (27 Jan 2024 9.17am)

Edited by HKOwen (27 Jan 2024 9.17am) Lots of Marxists would object, 'cos you is a racist' did one of the Lee Rigby killers give a speech at a 'Hope not hate' rally ? we have a photograph below of him participating at one of their rallies.
