I've seen a few videos of Bobby Lee and I really like him, very funny. Interestingly, the only time I have seen him be sensitive and express sincere hurt over a racially motivated incident was when somebody pulled the same stunt as the subject person of this thread at his family when a kid, which gives some good insight and context (given his usual mockery and humour based around his Korean heritage). I also believe Bobby has been accused of racism himself most predominantly toward other 'Asians' which again puts his hurt into context. Yep, if this guy was doing what the image suggests he's a berk, however what annoys most of the right is the disproportionate response.....I'm no fan of wallies in crowds but I'm also no fan of the pawn sandwich or 'right on' brigade who think everyone should be policed in case someone gets offended......it's a frigging hand gesture and when I think of what goes on....it's just nuts.

Given the diverse ethnic make-up of our supporters, club, players and regional area, and the fact that South Koreans have played at our club, I find it laughable that today's Palace supporter can be accused of being rascist, and I suspect it's just another attack on our collective personal freedoms.

So when, back in the 80s and 90s, a number of England supporters refused to celebrate goals scored by black England players, you'd presumably argue that they weren't actually racist because the majority of England supporters did cheer those goals? To point out that someone shouting racist abuse is a racist is simply to state the bleeding obvious. The fact their team has had players of the same race they're abusing has nothing to do with it.

This is tribal football stuff, nothing more. If you met him at a party you’d say what a nice fella he is. He got caught and they love to prosecute easy targets so he has to live with it. We’ll have to agree to disagree. Actions speak louder than words in both of these examples. Plenty of people I know including myself who, no matter how drunk or emotionally charged would not reactively produce a racist gesture. Even when you’re smashed you still have red lines. If anything the more inebriated or otherwise the worse it is… because in that state all inhibitions fall away. I’ve seen the video in question… he knew what he was doing, and so did this moron palace fan. Also the very fact you call this ‘mates banter’ and ‘tribal football stuff’ says it all. Normalised behaviour in private, exposed because of lack of inhibition due to alcohol or whatever else. Reminds me of the ‘but some of my best friends are black’ defense Comical

This is also along the same lines of ‘but some of my best friends are…’ defense Your logic is massively flawed. So there are no racists in Croydon then because it’s so diverse? Complete rubbish I’ve personally heard and challenged racist language during a match before. Way back in our third season in the PL. Any cross section of society as large as our fanbase will have people of this ilk.

Many accept the new standards placed upon them without question and are even stupid enough to fight among themselves about them. This is the consequence of globalism and related mass immigration. We are now all under the watchful eye of big brother with the willing help of the useful idiot. Sure, football crowds always contain a percentage of dickheads, as does wider society, but we seem to have got our priorities seriously distorted. A bit of antisocial behaviour should not be making the headlines on SKY Sports News. That is driven by an entirely self serving agenda which is all about commerce and dollar signs. Try a little less faux outrage and a little more thinking, I'd suggest. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (09 May 2023 2.40pm) Surely that crowbar is getting a little heavy by now Arguably contributing reasons for incidents like this being bumped up the agenda are more nuanced than ‘globalisation’ and ‘mass migration’ which in every post you make seem to be the root cause of absolutely everything. Absolute broken record 1. Racism and violence used to be a constant in football. A lot of people have worked hard to reduce it. I don’t think they want it back - hence zero tolerance, headlines and examples being made, rightly, at every opportunity. 2. Football crowds have a pretty good selection of what politicians love to term ‘hard working folk’ - eg the non-elites, lower middle classes etc. ‘Real’ people. So when you see idiots feeling bold enough to partake in this sort of nonsense then you know the problem is still very much alive and kicking amongst the masses 3. It’s racist behaviour. So much try hard downplaying on here it’s unreal. Sure it’s low on the scale of ‘racism’, but does that make it acceptable and not racist? No. Maybe I’m wrong and this sort of thing also frequently happens at the rugby.

You are free to offend people without resorting to racism. Two different things here - simply not the same. Also as above - to act like this at the football is idiotic in the extreme given its history. Understandably seized upon by the media once again. I see you’re back - didn’t you quite confidently declare yourself ‘done’ with this site though?

I've read some of your posts and they differ so wildly from my own positions that there's no point even discussing it with you. I think these positions actually worsen society and create the very opposite of what you think, while you obviously disagree. As for myself, what on earth has that got to do with you? Am I allowed to change my mind on something or does that also have to pass some test of acceptability for you.

Not downplaying it as ‘banter’ and silliness while avoiding calling it what it is, a racist gesture, and arguably an exposure of someone’s true views, sub conscious, conscious, fanatically, lightly or otherwise. Up to you and crowbar if you both don’t think it qualifies as racist. This isn’t the 60s. Time doesn’t stand still. As for why - Public forum. You declared pretty definitively that you were done, curious as to why you returned that’s all. Personally for it as opposing views are what makes places like this work well and keep things balanced and interesting. Also a great opportunity to point score - Wisbech does rattle on but you characters do love to tear him down relentlessly so couldn’t pass up a free hit. Give it, take it.

Up to you and crowbar if you both don’t think it qualifies as racist. This isn’t the 60s. Time doesn’t stand still. With respect, we don't agree on what racism is and how societies should be structured in relation to it. But I will say that attitudes back in the sixties are far more healthy for the British than they are now. I'll say again, I think these social liberal policies, while long in the mainstream have considerably worsened society not improved it and the social metrics bare it out. As I've said the principle reasons is that they are based upon utopian ideas rather than utilitarian ones. Against human nature instead of working with its natural process. As always happens within that framework it ends with an increasingly authoritarian state.....which those who post your kind of views are bringing about. The freedoms that better generations fought for and had in the sixties and seventies have been ruined by neo and social liberalism and middle class obsessions with egalitarianism that have never worked. When the pieces don't fit the jigsaw your chaps will just keep bashing the pieces until they fit. It never ends well but I accept its inevitability as a student of human nature.
