Vieria’s fate won’t be determined by the next 2 games, but if we don’t start winning after that he will be walking a tightrope. I’m not sure what has happened to us after the World Cup, but something is drastically wrong. The fans are feeling it now and it’s transferring onto the pitch. The fans need something to shout about and they are being given nothing to get behind. The next couple of months are going to be massive for the club…

Tame display, no shots, abject defeat = gone in my opinion. A manager has to be able to demonstrably motivate a side.

I can see no possibility of PV being sacked before the end of the season. The situation is not desperate in the sense we are not in the bottom 3 with points to make up against teams above. We are currently 3 points ahead of relegation places with the vast majority of our games to come against bottom half teams. This season’s fixture list was very unusual instead of playing a mix of top half and bottom half we have had to endure a long spell against the better teams thus not having wins interspersed with loses giving the impression we are a rubbish football team. I would suggest it would be foolish to only judge our team when playing the better sides and ignore what might happen against the rest. I am convinced we will survive and the Club can then decide if PV is right for a middle of the table club or not. COYP

COYP I disagree with your sentiments however I think this is a well written post despite our subjective, emotional and contextual feelings differing, with mine being geared more towards panic. You could well prove to be right and for all my inclination to despair, my wanting the best for palace of course hopes you are right Brinscall.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

If there was someone with the necessary experience available now I would agree to dispense with Vieira BUT the only candidates who have the experience won't risk their reputations to come in as a firefighter. So we must carry on and decide at the end of the season. In the meantime, the manager must now prove his worth and cease fannying about. Stop the idiocy of playing Luka who was awful (can't believe that Hughes/Richards & McArthur were all ill) The defence is reasonably stable and will improve with the return of Doucoure (providing he doesn't do a Casimiro repeat) but what is lacking is 1. a goal scorer and 2. a provider. Based on Ahamada's cameo against City I would delegate him as the provider and dispense with Schlupp and Ayew. Play Edouard as and out and out No.9 and command Wilf and Olise to get crosses in with Eze supporting. It goes without saying that our abysmal work-rate must be improved rapidly. Another match with NIL SHOTS ON TARGET will make us the laughing stock of the PL, if we are not already.

Guys got to keep it real here.. We just lost/dipped out 1-0 through a silly penalty to IMO the best club side in the World. Has anyone just seen what Arsenal have done to Fulham - and Fulham have had a decent season - that is the gulf in class. From Arsenal's perspective because they kept faith with Arteta - when at times like us ATM things looked bleak..!! As I said if we keep some consistency/stability in terms of selection and get our best players on the pitch for the remainder of the season, given our remaining fixtures and the comparative quality of our squad to those around us we will be fine..!! Some on here letting emotions/irrationality run away with them..!! Get a grip we are 12th and we need 4 wins from our last 12 games to be comparatively safe - with 8 of those games being against teams currently below us..!! If we can't do that we have only ourselves to blame/and aren't good enough to be in the Division..!! Bottom line is that it's in our hands/and we have by far the easiest run in of any of those around/below us..!! Yes it's tough and dark ATM but I'm confident keep with it/PV and the perseverance, faith and pain we are currently suffering will pay dividends come the end of the season and looking/moving into the future..!! Those carping on about sacking Viera - who else is out there/do you suggest/you going to replace him with..?? IMO keep the faith and we will be fine and we'll look back at this point in time and realise the pain was worth it..!! COYP I'm with you, the run hasn't been great at all. But if you take most of those games in isolation they havent been terrible. we've not been dominated or battered. If I'm Parish at the min, I'm giving Pat 3/4 games. Aim to draw with Brighton and not get battered by Arsenal, and then go at Leicester. As long as we win or at the least, give Leicester a really good go, he gets Leeds.

If we go out with a whimper on Wednesday against Brighton I suspect that PV’s number will be up. There can’t be much worse than humiliation against the club’s biggest rivals. It’s embarrassing for the fans as well as the board.

For me Vieira has to stay at least until the end of the season as he has had a bad run but this recent one is partly down to the run of teams we have played against and partly with bad luck to significant injuries. I still believe that we will stay up but at the end of the season we do not buy the bargain bucket players bin and use some of the youngsters that we have brought in and use some of them. Please Mr Parish please don't bring in cheap players and hope that they will fit in (Benteke, Mateta, Edouard and Ayew).
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

COYP Since we beat West Ham we have failed to beat Villa, Brentford, Brighton, Fulham. We have not exactly played City every week. I wouldn’t have us as favourites to beat a single team in this division at the moment. We are in serious trouble.
