I still think of us a 2nd tier team, so happy we are in the top league.
Decent start to the season , happy with the amount of attacking players that Viera plays., a lot more enjoyable to watch than watching Roy’s team.
Bad day today , it happens.
Looking forward to the World Cup. Then a win on Boxing Day

Forget that game immediately and move on.

There is nothing wrong with the players we have, apart from needing a RB, the problem is that they are not played in their best position, Wilf plays best facing the goal on the left cutting in and occasionally going outside, Olise is exactly the same but on the right, Eze is a Central playmaker, Mitchell who is clearly carrying an injury is capable of overlapping, we need an AWB type RB to be able to do the same.
Yesterday we started with Wilf at CF, Eze on the RW, and Olise in CM, you could see after 10mins it was all wrong, but as usual PV plods on with no changes until Forest score, Edouard, Mateta or Ayew have to be one of the CFs, even a blind man can see the frustration at the players being asked to play in ridiculous positions

Ayew was more on the right wing, Olise shouldn't be risked against these teams from the start too easily muscled off, he should come on for the last half an hour, Schlupp had an absolute mare and was way too easily muscled out of the game by Forest who beat us up easily throughout, we played well enough for a point Zaha needs to be more careful.

We are STILL crying out for a goalscorer. Last week we dominated but scored from a defender mistake & a deflected shot. All v familiar.

All goals are from a mistake somewhere and no one knows if Olise's strike was going in anyway, Edouard is improving and needs time to get there so I feel we have no problem in this department, our problems are defending as a team.

Yes, sorry meant LW, where Wilf should be

Zaha should not be taking penalties. No excuses. What’s his ratio? 5 out of last 10? Something daft like that.

Out all day yesterday thankfully and caught the highlights this morning. We are so disjointed between midfield and attack, I’m getting a bit fed up of seeing the same poor decision making and general lack of midfield quality.

Having seen the experiment 6 or 7 times now I’m pretty convinced you cannot play Eze Olise Zaha, Schlupp and Ayew in the same team, it just looks so unbalanced. I wouldn’t be surprised if Doucoure puts in a transfer request because he is being asked to do 3 players jobs.

Massive expenditure required in midfield. Jairo, Milivojevic and Hughes all need to go, Schlupp and Ayew should become impact players. Replace those three suggested with 2 decent central midfielders and we might have a half decent side.

PV is consistently mentioning consistency in his post match interviews. We play well and deservedly beat West Ham, a week later we can't get going against one of the bottom three teams.

I think a part of the problem, and it's a general trait of ' flair ' players, is that only the top, top players turn in 7/8/9 out of 10 performances week in, week out. We currently have 3 such players in Zaha, Eze and Olise. Hot one week, cold the next. It's ok if 1 or even 2 aren't quite at it, but if it's all 3 it becomes an issue.

Saying that, it is blatantly obvious that we need to bring some more quality and depth to the squad. I don't know what funds, if any, are going to be available in January. And I have a concern that the powers that be ( not PV ) will look at the league table and conclude that we can get by with what we have. Which we potentially could, but I think the intensity of games after the World Cup will be a challenge for some clubs, Palace being one of them.

As is usually the case with our club, we hint at greater things to come. So frustrating !

This was a forseeably frustrating game. As PV said there was much that was good - and a missed penalty gives you little chance of the consolation point we might otherwise have got. But it would only have been a consolation for the win which should have been secured during the first half which we dominated. Truth to tell we haven't had a player able to convert possession to goals since Benteke at his best or Jason Puncheon. That more than anything was why Hodgson elected to play low press and counter-attach with a team that was allowed to go downhill while academy development was prioritised; he did try at times to exploit our capability to dominate possession but abandoned it because we usually failed to score in such games. We have done well in rebuilding the team since he left and PV has proved able to keep it punching above its weight while being admirably stubborn in looking for a more attacking style. But the rebuild is a work in progressand still well short of the quality which achieved notable runs under Allardyce and in Hodgson's first year. We are two players light since the end of last season and the transfer window may help. What would help more is learning that against sides who are diligent in putting two men onto our flair players whenever they get the ball, our players should pass quickly as soon as they have drawn the defenders to enable others to exploit the defensive gaps which must inevitable have been left. That's partly a matter of always making sure they have the clear pass to make under pressure.

Agree, he should be nowhere near them, as has been expressed numerous times previously. The only reason he takes them is because he is selfish and wanted more goals and has forced his own demands ahead of what is best for the team.

Wilf had another poor game yesterday, whilst playing as the one up top he needs to be an outlet but made no real attempt to make runs or show for the ball. Eze was a waste of space, completely ineffectual and too easily muscled off the ball and Olise is worryingly becoming a one trick pony.

Schlupp worked his socks off but we desperately need an upgrade - we miss Gallagher so much.

Clyne had a good game as did Doucouré but truth of the matter is we didn’t threaten the goal of a poor Forest side once in the entire game. Not good enough!

PV is obviously a slow learner, you can play, Wilf, Eze and Olise, but neither Ayew or Schlupp, Edouard or Mateta and Luka or Hughes
