The article I read said WZ had made an offer to Barca, not the other way around, indicating that he / his representative has approached them & said - Wilf will consider coming to Barcelona for ............ + ....... + ...... - Whether Barca see Wilf as their kind of player is another matter. Presumably this is the agent publicising his contract status in advance of the January window to see if any of the top European sides are interested - He is certainly better than Raphinha, and if he is going i hope not an English Team
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

It was certainly interesting that Raphinha turned down Chelsea to go to Barca, so for sure their representatives must be saying the kind of things that a player wants to hear - As to whether Wilf is better than Raphinha I know we believe so, I have no idea if you asked a Leeds fan the same question would you get the same answer ? Wilf is a game changer and as there'll be no fee I imagine there'll be interest from a few big clubs who'll see him as low risk with the potential for a big reward. Clubs in Italy and Spain won't be put off by his age and I could even see one of the big German clubs having a sniff. Liverpool's squad depth is not that deep so as it stands I think he'd get plenty of game time there, but they're still way behind the CL places at the moment. I hate Liverpool though so that is probably one of the last places I'd want to see him end up. Barcelona seems unlikely given they have Dembélé, Fati and Raphina, but with Depay seemingly on the way out you never know. Plus they do love an entertainer. As I've maintained all along, I hope Wilf comes to the decision that he wants to stay with us, but like others have said if he has to go I hope it's abroad.

I heard (or saw) some rumour linking Wilf with Juventus, which I thought made sense. Juve have made high-profile free-agent signings a bit of a focus in recent years, landing Dani Alves, Paul Pogba, Sami Khedira, Aaron Ramsey, Adrien Rabiot etc. All very good players, with high wages and (in many cases) getting on a bit with less than inspiring injury records, but they seem to get a tune out of them. I'd say Wilf would be good enough to start most games for them, they will always end up challenging for the Italian league title (poor form at the start of this season notwithstanding) and are regulars in the Champions League.

However being Barca they are linked with everyone. Do they really want Wilf or is he one of many on their wish list and only if they don't get their first choice picks. Arsenal have been mentioned yet they are linked with a winger from a Russian club who will cost big bucks so again is Wilf the fall back plan.

Whether true or not Barca are skint and are looking for free transfers where possible , Wilf ticks all the boxes for them . If they tick all the boxes for Wilf is another matter I still get the feeling he will stay

With a 6 week break coming up, I guess he will use the time to consider all his options before make a decision. It’s his last chance of receiving a big money pay out, whether is be with Palace or another club. I’m sure things will be sorted in due course.

If Wilf gets the opportunity to play for Barcelona and doesn't take it, he is an idiot, all the things he wanted is there for him. if it is available

If Wilf does go I would prefer he went abroad rather than him tearing us to shreds ! However, giving his short fuse, he will have to think hard about a foreign deal otherwise in his frustration I forsee lots of red cards. He is a millionaire so I doubt even a new offer from Parish of £200,000 a week will tempt him. If he wants to get in a European Championship side he should choose one who have qualified if such club makes an offer as he probably has only three years left. One thing we shall now never know is, if he had opted for England would he now been in the WC squad? Under the negative Southgate I think perhaps not ...
