Agree with your sentiments; I don't think Palace will be relegated or end up anywhere near the drop zone. In fact, I think a mid table finish is much more likely.

I think we’re ok defensively but our total reliance on Zaha to score our goals is a real worry. Right now as it stands yes I do think we are in danger of being relegated simply because I’m struggling to find three teams who could finish below us, however since we’ve only played 6 games it’s way too early to start worrying. If in 10 games time we are not in the bottom 6 I will be very happy. I think it’s going to be close but time will tell.

I think/hope we will stay up. However, I do worry where the goals are going to come from if not from Wilf. To date our main central strikers Mateta and Edouard don't suggest they are going to find the net with any regularity. That means that we need others to step up. I like Ayew but apart from that purple patch 3 years ago there is no indication that he will contribute more than a coupe of goals. Eze and Olise will no doubt cause defenders problems but are we going to see either of them score more than 5 or 6 in a season? Schlupp will, I hope, get his usual handful of goals. That leaves us looking at our defensive midfielders and backs to chip in - I am sure they will score the odd goal but I am not sure that will be enough to make up for our scoring deficiencies higher up the field. Am I being unduly pessimistic?

We will stay up - 100% Only six games in and we go through this every season at the start People must want us in the Championship - know your club and the recent history and culture. We won’t go down - we have started the season on numerous occasions in a worst state than this after 6 games in the prem!! This thread has 10 pages - wow.

At the very best summary the first team has stood still this season and I think a more realistic one is that we are a little worse without Chelsea's young dynamo. I think we will finish in the lower half of the league and form and injuries will determine just how low. Hopefully the outcome is better than my prediction. We've started This season pretty good defensively, though struggling to score. That is at least the right way round for survival. Continue the defensive solidity (even if it is last ditch at times) and we will survive, but will not be pretty! Zaha staying is a massive win for us this season. we'll be relying on him to nick some points here and there. If we can start firing - Olise and Eze need to start chipping in with the odd goal - then we can challenge the top half. If we don't, it's going to the wire.

I would strongly suggest fear or at least acknowledgement of the threat of catastrophe is requisite of any true Palace fan. Any true Palace fan who does not hold this I envy as deeply as I struggle to understand them!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I just watched the highlights of the Leicester game, Rodgers has his work cut out the players were arguing amongst themselves. Palace will stay up.

I can't believe how suddenly Leicester have declined, but I can't see them going down. Much like Everton last season, they only need to improve 'a bit' to get out of the bottom 3 - and they still have the squad to do that, whereas Forest and Bournemouth really need to over-achieve to reach 17th place. The only caveat with Leicester is, I doubt they can afford to sack the manager. Their finances are dire and they're getting heat from UEFA. Rogers seems fed up. The onus is on him to galvanise a squad low on morale and fresh impetus - and for what? Finishing 16th? 12th at best? Personally, I think it's a piss take that the only club who has pushed the ruling elite, who won a league and FA cup, who spent their earnings on developing a training ground - could be relegated due to financial 'mismanagement'. Whereas PSG behave in the way that they do... and get a €26m fine, which is just utterly inconsequential to them. The rules keep the rich rich, and the precocious upstarts in their natural place.

Totally agree with Qwijibo. 'To those who already have too much...even more will be given.' Call it anything but 'Financial Fair Play'. What a joke.
