We’ve had some s***e over the years, but not anyone that’s been so bad yet such a drain on finances, at least the likes of Aylott, Langley, McCulloch, Brown, Lacey, Bason, Price, Ketteridge etc etc I could go on, didn’t cost us much in transfer fees or wages. Obviously I know it’s a different era, we’re a level higher and players do cost a club more, but it’s mind boggling how much Benteke has cost us and how little we’ve got back from him

Aylott was a real trier too, but just terrible. One of those things. I must admit to him my making me laugh a few times. The other one that made me laugh was George Wood. He was always under pressure, often from our own passes - how awful we were.
Now, I have laughed out loud at some of Benteke's misses - but the comedy timing isn't right. None of his timing is.
The Benteke thing that really got my goat though, was Benteke's upsurge in form when contract expiring. In my memory (perhaps false) that happened a couple of times. The last time was incredibly suspicious, in my opinion. He signed it and was back to crap within two games.
