I have to say it was great that it was fun. It was great fun.
Surely, that's what football should be? Like when you played with your mates at lunch time.

The fun seems to have been sucked out of us in the Premier League and England men in favour of some kind of process.
It reminds me of the fun days at Selhurst, not expecting anything in Division 2. Every so often some character would shout out a joke between the choruses of "Eagles, Eagles", and you could often hear it and have a few laughs. Someone would do something ridiculous on the pitch - that you would unlikely ever see now except at non league, and again a great laugh. Everyone's all serious now. Still wanted to win but didn't have the expectations perhaps.

I even wonder do the youngsters/kids have fun as everyone takes it all so seriously these days? These England girls though - really look like they're having a good time. Who couldn't love that? This is a massive story and a shift in football. I watched some of the last women's world cup and didn't think it was any good. I watched England in this and could relate to it. Perhaps it's because they don't get 250k a week, I honestly don't know why, but they've won me over anyway.

Tonnes of positives from last night, the England team and the tournament as a whole.

Everyone is talking about legacy, but what actually is it?

Granted it hasn’t been easy for these girls to get to where they have got to. But they have done it. So, whilst our pathway to the top may not be perfect, it exists, which I suspect wont be the case for women in the majority of nations.

For me the litmus test isn’t about grass roots participation, it’s about general demand. Demand for season tickets, demand for live games on paid TV, demand for transfer gossip etc. Because demand = revenue, which = better wages, facilities, academy set ups.

It feels like everyone is looking over the fence to then men’s game and its infrastructure, and just expecting/asking/demanding that its in place for the women’s game.

Its all well and good selling out Wembley for a Euro final, but can you get bums on seats in the WSL?

That's the problem there isn't a demand for it, tho sky will keep pushing it, it'll be subsidised by the man's game and sponsorship from woke company's in the name of equality, this will last a few years untill woke company realises the losses on the women's game would be better spent in shareholders profits. They will slowly pull out and sky's interest will slowly decline. Its like purring a southern area title fight on ppv, pointless as people are just not interested.

The legacy stuff was annoying me and detrimental to the girls on the pitch. There was a load of bitterness from past players. There is decent equality now, and girls are going to play football whether their PE teacher likes it or not. Just like boys do. Does every boy have a pathway? I think we all know the answer. Nothing is ever good enough for the constant moaners who have to find their next social justice crusade.
Even Lineker is preferable to Alex Scott and that's really saying something.
However, being England, there will be more and more social justice politics until the ladies' team is as entertaining as the men's team - not at all entertaining.

Firstly, and most importantly, Very well done to the Lionesses. very proud of them and their performance. What a result.

But, I would like to point out that even in spite of a tremendous acheivement in a most enjoyable game, which was much better than many people expected..... Football has NOT 'Come home'.

What about if they win the world cup?

Or are you just annoyed with the song/phrase?
Or do you mean it just comes home when the men win?

Genuine questions.

I'm honestly willing to support the ladies more than England men now. The crap from the men and their manager has been annoying for a while. I'm not sure I'll watch the men flounder in the farce in Qatar. What's the point?

Rather watch people smile than huff and puff and virtue signal.

Germany were marginally the better team and lost by a whisker.

Not once in the aftermath were they even mentioned they disappeared into thin air.

An annoying and ungracious post-match display.

We won it is great, and we are excited, but this is sport.

They've won 8 times and they're German. Some were good looking but who cares about them?

I like to think of the Womens team being a completely separate Entity to the Mens. In fact they deserve to be. Don't Tarnish them with the same habitual-failures brush that the Men have made their own. They have matured and grown into World Beaters over the course of the last 20 or so years, challenging the likes of Sweden and Germany, who have been there for a lot longer than them.

So to use a song like The Three lions - a song specifically referencing the past glories and subsequent failures of the Mens game felt a bit wierd.

Not Sure what you expected. No one remembers the ones that come 2nd.
I dare say the German TV Coverage would be exactly the same in the case Of a(nother) German victory.

Well…I’m ready to get battered on this one…brilliant achievement by the Lions..well done.

BUT in my opinion..the commentators were totally over the top. Everything the Lions did was “brilliant”, “amazing”, “world class”.

I was sitting there thinking to myself… really? How was that world class?

The goalkeeper made an amazing save…really? How was catching the ball from a corner amazing?

I’m really delighted for the team, but the bottom line is most Sunday league teams would easily win against them.

Let’s not get too carried away…

Ok…helmet on…ready for the abuse…
