Mate of mine is at Gatwick North right now enroute to Kos & he says the terminal is practically empty, says he doesnt understand what all the media fuss is about.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

The contracts of security staff ( who are not public sector workers) airline staff and retail workers at the airport have nothing to do with the Government. As I said, these employers refused to take up the furlough offer and now cannot recruit. I was talking about 35 years ago when maggie bought in temporary contracts spider and shook up working peoples rights, I was working at Gatwich handling at the time.

Unlike you, there isn't an agenda behind everything I post. I just attempt to find humour or irreverence in all situations. You, on the other hand, come across as a sad, bitter and twisted individual sorely in need of a sense of humour or perhaps the odd trip out.

It's not just Europe, flight chaos in the USA as well, looks like they all made the same mistake in laying off workers and not getting them back quickly enough.

They actually retired long term workers on good salaries and conditions and tried to hire lower paid/ less skilled/ temporary contract workers in Ireland. The wage is now 12 an hour or so and there are shifts with a 25-35 hour week. Not worth it for Ireland whatsoever, wouldn't pay for a garden shed. Cost cutting gone wrong.
