I'm liking this.

My opinion (For what it is worth) is that Everton will preserve their PL status.

It's interesting, this. You would assume that like most people, Lampard (or any other manager interviewing for a job) would do some due diligence about his prospective employer. Yes, Everton is a "big" (or biggish) club, but surely you look beyond that when weighing up a new employer. To take on the Everton job in its current state and with the squad you'd have at your disposal implies either that a). You are right; Lampard was simply too arrogant to really look closely at what he was taking on. He just wanted a high profile job and any high profile job would do, or b). he did look closely and thought the squad was far better than it is and he could turn things around quickly, in which case he's a pretty awful judge of footballers. Either way, there's nothing about the work Lampard's done in two months at Everton that doesn't make me think we dodged a bullet in not offering him the Palace job (if, indeed, we ever considered doing so). The fact is, on Monday night Everton looked not only clueless but badly organised, under-coached, and for the all the flak Graham Taylor once took for having a brolly on the sidelines, Lampard looked just as hapless and lost standing on the touchline against Spurs. It'd just that being Frank means no one had the guts to point out that the emperor was naked. When your team comes in 3-0 down at halftime, the one thing a manager presumably tells them is "no more. Park the bus". That Everton were 4-0 down within a minute of the restart tells you all you need to know about the impact Lampard's leadership is having on that team.
