We’re on the right track. We play like an academy team really lack some edge and game management. I think Mcarthur is so key this side. We get a decent striker in and a new right back and we’ll be top half next season really is fine margins. Letting goals in after a minute at elite level away from home you’re asking for trouble. Then get back into game after a half time bollocking and miss the penalty when we’re all over them and their heads are gone. It’s all about decision making and moments but the general approach and philosophy is correct for me under Viera. Needs some tweaking and a few signings but keep the faith. 70 % possession away from home is not to be sniffed at albeit without too many chances created. I personally feel Edouard gets in the starting 11 every week for me but TBF he’s often not taken his chance but feel he needs 6/7 games on the spin. Benteke and Mateta are not prem level end of. Have moments of course but consistently their all round games are not good enough as the main striker for a prem team end of story. Anyway onwards and upwards a point keeps us just enough out of bother in my opinion a point or win at Brentford and I think we’re good to go with ragards relegation and can crack on see how many points we can get. I’m really worried though if we get dragged into a scrap defo not got the minerals or away form for a relegation scrap. Let the games begin lol..eagles!

A shambles. One half bad, the next good. Not for the first time. It's as if PV doesn't know his best 11 and is still moving the pieces of the puzzle round to see which ones fit. Sure, he has options up front, but 4-3-3 leaves the midfield lightweight, and then there's the right back who needs cover because there's currently no alternative.
Far too much side to side nonsense without any end product.

Unfortunately, PV will persists with playing from the back with all those side to side and back passes regardless of the oppositions. This tactic limits our ability to get the ball
upfield quickly. Quiata seemed reluctant to kick the ball upfield - he rather rolled it to one of the back four

Well I thought Zaha had he’s best game in months for us. Hardly saw him moaning tonight. He looked nearly like the Zaha of old to me. As for the team, the problem is that if it wasn’t for Zaha’s worldly goal we wouldn’t have drawn. We could have won after that with the penalty and perhaps we wouldn’t be moaning now? We were too slow in our build up and unlike the first part of the season we aren’t getting numbers in the box. The penalty move and one Schlupp pass back from the goal line was the most dangerous moves. Olise didn’t get past his marker other than cutting in or passing back. Not having a go at him but the team aren’t moving forward enough or being adventurous. It’s just easy to pass it back / sideways rather than going for the throat and getting the ball / players in the box. The substitutes, especially the last two also made us weaker which was a shame. They just fitted in playing the same way without giving us an edge - strange?

Just watched an interview with a very disappointed Vieira.
He said we lacked belief and didn't play enough to 'hurt the opposition.'
For all of our possession we we lacked a final ball and were not clinical.
I think the return of Mcarthur and Kouyate will enable Gallagher to play further forward and chalk up some more goals and assists.
It should also enable us to compete more in midfield and play passes earlier and quicker.

I'm not a fan of Luka these days, but I really wanted to see him take the penalty and the free kick on the edge of the box. Just might have.......

Oops duplicated this. Apologies!

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

No doubt it was disappointing. With our position in the league and opposition, it's not a game you want to throw points away on really. If not for the freak stumble on the penalty though it would've been a different story.

After the early goal and a couple of scares we completely dominated. Wilf the only player to put it in the net and in some style so give him a break. He also played Mithell in for the pen, which he clearly missed because he slipped. Not his best game, but he stayed calm.

People talking about Vieira's job being under threat are bonkers. He's had just over half a season in the PL and has met his remit to improve our performances while still getting points. We're finally winning at home and we're playing some good football. The only thing missing is being a bit more clinical. Watching all the teams below us we are a much better team and I'd be amazed if we don't comfortably stay up. This is the best we've played in our PL stint this time around and as we develop results will come.

Agreed. People are very premature and reactionary about these things.

PV has 4 huge games coming up. f*** the style of play, we need minimum of 6 points or he should really worry for his job. We are paying the price for dropping points in games we should have seen out (Brighton home, Newcastle home, arsenal away etc).

Tonight was a massive game. Conceding after 42 seconds is unacceptable!

I think you might be overreacting just a tad. Vieira isn't under any pressure and we don't need 6 points minimum. A win and a draw from these games would give us 29 with 11 games to play. All the teams in the bottom 6 would give an arm and a leg to be in that position.

You are having an absolute laugh, right?
He was woeful for the entire first half. Gave the ball away, passed backwards and never took his man on once.

Didn't see all of the second half...but apparently he also took a dire penalty? Aside from one decent strike...it was the Wilf we've become used to now. Distinctly average.

Wilf was woeful, never mind distinctly average. He looked like a trialist off the pace and out of his depth…up until he scored an absolute screamer.

What can you say? Frustrating and worrying that he can be so bad and ineffective and then he comes up with a wonder strike like that…and then scuffs a penalty two yards wide.

We should’ve won that, Norwich were very poor but we just don’t punish teams at the moment.

Guehi was different class tonight an absolute Rolls Royce performance, Olise didn’t seem as effective tonight and we just don’t seem to be playing with cohesion in the final third to really hurt teams.

Ward an absolute warrior and team legend but pleeeease spare him any more torture. Everything that needs saying has been covered by others already. He simply has to be replaced ASAP.

Here’s to three (much needed) points at Brentford.

Another two points thrown away. Palace should be comfortably over 30 points by now. Norwich aren’t good enough to stay up and I don’t think Burnley will score enough, so there is one relegation place left. I think Palace will get more points than Watford, Brentford and Leeds so should be safe. A win on Saturday would make me feel a lot more comfortable.

People need to remember that this group have still only played 20 odd games together in 5 months under a new manager playing a totally new style.

This season was always going to be transitional but we dominated them today and should have won.

We're three points off the top half and eight from relegation so let's keep some perspective. There are definitely things to improve but if we finish the season well and pull off some more coups in the summer, we could fly out of the blocks next season.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...
