In 2019, only 32%. What changed in that time? What dominated the entire political discourse? Boris won because of the second referendum retards. That simple. And they gifted him such a huge majority that it inflated his already enormous ego even more. Having, unusually, agreed with your analysis of Johnson, I don't with this. No "moronic idiot" disagreed with the referendum result! The result was close, but clear and unarguable. The issue was never about the result. It was about the process which brought it about, the interference which resulted in it and the failure of Parliament to step in and take the action they knew was necessary. All the time allowing a populist buffoon to mislead the people with catchy phrases and unkept promises, aided and abetted by a hugely unpopular opposition leader who put his personal beliefs ahead of what his party wanted to do and what the country needed, and refused to resign. The period leading up to the December 2019 GE was the nadir of British politics in my lifetime and, quite possibly, ever.

It is only your own arrogance that stops you accepting that maybe, just maybe, they did the right thing.

The biggest budget guarantees nothing against the time trusted, grass is greener, time for a change, anything must be better than this, populist simplicity. Who knows how much Russian and Chinese money was spent on social media influencers, spreading lies and sowing doubts. Selling the status quo is never as sexy as change. That's the primary reason why vital decisions such as our membership of the EU ought never be dealt with in such a stupid way as holding a referendum. You end up with irrational decisions based on emotion and not reason. The reason why Parliament should have never have permitted it and why they ought to have stepped it in 2019, but failed.

I'm very happy we are out, as are many others. I believe it was absolutely correct to put the question directly to the people.

Public ownership of water, energy and rail now starting to happen as one by one the privatisations all fail. Fully funded and world beating NHS. High quality broadband rolled out everywhere. A wealth tax and corporation tax to fund public services. A government for the many, not the few. The biggest tax hike since WW2? It is the Tories and its definitely not going to benefit Mr.Average, its going to landlords and corporate greed. Public service workers are worse-off than when the tories misrule started 11 years ago.
For the many , not the Jew
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

But it was the right policy for the country, we would have been in a far better situation now, and probably not have left at all, we would have chosen. BJ was an apple ready to be eaten by Brussels, as we see on a daily basis.
What was Corbyn's Brexit policy, I can't remember. I remember Thornberry talking some rubbish about renegotiating from a position of wanting to remain but best to ignore the stuff she spouts. Edited by HKOwen (13 Jan 2022 9.46pm)

You end up with irrational decisions based on emotion and not reason. The reason why Parliament should have never have permitted it and why they ought to have stepped it in 2019, but failed. But Parliament did permit. Voted by a huge margin to hold the referendum and then by a huge margin to invoke Article 50. The referendum only came about because of the Parliamentary process. And then in 2017, we have a general election fought on both Labour and the Conservatives making clear manifesto promises to honour the vote. Boris won because Labour decided to try and over-turn the 2016 result. Utter insanity for a whole host of reasons I have bored people with on numerous occassions so will not do so now but Boris is in number 10 because of people who refused to accept that 52, when expressed as a %, is bigger than 48. Get Brexit Done. Remember that slogan? You want to slate Boris for what he has done since, then fill your boots. No issues from me on that. But people like you are the primary reason why he is able to enjoy 'wine and nibbles' in Downing Street. Own that. Accept responsibility for that. The campaign for a second referendum, which was only ever about over-turning the Leave vote, handed Boris his win in 2019 on a plate.

Gina Miller has launched her new party but only 13 people turned up to the launch. I think she's about to find out there is a big difference in winning a few court cases on point of law and actually stepping into the lions den of politics where you have to have policies. I suspect she will go the way of Laurence Fox.
