I have to say, Luka was simply hopeless today. There was nothing he could do right. Yet somehow he's on set pieces? Is he really all we have in those situations? Please PV give it to anyone else.
Kouyate tries hard but has zero ball skills. He makes an effort though which I respect.
Forget Europe yet, we have made great progress but today showed the alarming gaps we still have in this team.

As poor as the ref was it mattered little as we were simply dreadful. If I was Will Hughes watching that performance from Luka and I don't get some game time on Tuesday I would be asking to leave in January.

As much as Zaha was poor I didn't understand the substitution. He removed any type of width from the left hand side by subbing Zaha as Mitchell rarely takes people on and Edouard drifts infield...

Yes Benteke didn't get much service but the problem is he is slow, cumbersome and always 5 yards off the pace in the rest of his play. Could not understand keeping him on.

Villa we're not bad... Let's face it they hardly broke a sweat as we gave them nothing to worry about all game. We were due an off day and today was it. Everybody was poor. What's important is how we react on Tuesday.

What does Will Hughes have to do to get a game ??
PV picked the worst midfield combination available in Kouyate and Luka (who wasn't good enough 18 months ago).
It was though refreshing to see a him (unlike Roy) having the bottle to sub both Wilf and Luka.
Olise was disappointing (mostly looking to pass back rather than taking his man on) & along with Wilf offered little on either wing.
Gallagher was quiet though should have been allowed to play on when almost through in the second half when the referee pulled it back for our foul.
Why are we still playing a goalkeeper who cannot kick properly and instead continues to use this dreaded tippy tappy short passing out from the back which puts pressure on the defence and leaves the space so narrow on the wing when the final pass goes out there ?
It was again very unfortunate to have a 'referee' in his first premiership game clearly unwilling to give anything controversial against Villa's penalty diving and general cheating given that the new big name manager was on the bench.

I believe in admitting when I’m wrong and owning the mistake. Today I need to make an admission about Luka.

He’s not good enough for this current palace team.

I’ve supported him passionately. You all know that. And I stilll believe he’s got quality. We’ve all seen it. But for whatever reason, it’s a distant memory.

I can’t defend him anymore. And apologies for trying to for so long.

He shouldn’t see much more game time for us now. Needs a fresh start somewhere else.
