Hes only 23, you'll have to wait a few more years.

Roy is very excited to sign a replacement for Sakho. Big gangly Frenchman, unorthodox looks a bit like Bambi on ice and a perfect younger replacement to allow us to shift Mama off the wage bill.

Any videos of him defending on the 6 yard box at corners? Roy must have seen something in him.

I know this is very unfair but he doesn't look nearly sharp enough for the Premier League in those clips. I hope I am wrong and will give him all the support I can offer though.

I thought Benteke was actually playing much better in the recent few games. He's not been given the crosses he thrives on but his general hold up play and especially his wall passes have created many opportunities. Eze driving at him and then taking a wall pass would terrify all but the very best defenders.

Ayew is a workhorse who gave City a few problems early doors but is never going to score a bucket load.
Bats is a strange one. He looked so good the last time but off the pace every time he gets a few minutes now. Where does he fit?

He looks like a cross between Bats and Sorloth. And he'll probably play much less than both of them.

Really, with Roy as manager, I don't understand the point of this signing. We have Benteke who never gets crosses put in to him. We have Bats, who can score if he ever gets the ball in scoring position, but he never does. We're the club where forwards go to die.

I'm rooting for Mateta, but I can't imagine him playing or succeeding playing Royball. He'll rot on the bench, or if he does play, he'll never see the ball.

This very welcome news - and appears to be a long time in the making. Good quality signing with plenty of potential and unquestionably an improvement on CW....and fair business deal too!

Think I’m going to enjoy this good news for a while before I have to face up to the reality that it will be six months before he gets to start a game - if we’re lucky we might get to see him feature as that typically Roy 75th minute sub when we’re already 2 nil down!

Obviously (for all our sake’s ) I hope I’m wrong.

Lol. How is it unquestionable if you've never seen him play.

It'll be a nice surprise to get someone in tbh. Hopefully the lad can do well. I hope we remain active in Germany and reopen our interest in the young CB Bella-Kotchap. He's been playing well recently with his team 2nd in the second tier. These two coming would be a real boost to youthful talent... but maybe I'm being too optimistic.

I hope this signing works out it's been a long time since we had a striker we could rely on.

I'm sure i've done what we've all done by looking on YouTube and it's fair to say he looks decent.

Good on the ground for a tall lad, but in reality he just appears to be another Benteke ?

You could argue Benteke could be leaving and is starting to hit some kind form and needs replacing ?

I just don't see the transfer working out, based on how we play.

As long as Roy is in charge, which I certainly hope is his last year, then 'big' strikers haven't worked for us.

Saying that, no type of striker has worked really !

Midfield is more of a problem for us than up front. Until we buy an upgrade on Milivojevic and McArthur ie midfielders who can link up play and someone young dynamic enough to boss the midfield then the striker isn’t going to see much of the ball anyway.

Does look like Sakho up front to be honest. It’s only a YouTube video but he looks quite cumbersome and a lot of his lay offs seem kind of heavy footed and lucky. Some nice goals but as a lot of people have said, will he get the balls in those positions to score. Don’t see why batshayi is now all of a sudden a rubbish striker, it’s clearly because we done play in a way that suits a man up top. Can’t see this changing but hope it does

Lol indeed. He's been playing football for the past season so clearly better than CW who is permanently injured.
