Look, I'm obviously on the right but even so I like some of Corbyn's policies....there are aspects of the far left that I respect....the parts that are honest. However, anyone with reason who watched the Labour conference this summer must have felt forced fed with fruitcake. Fruitcake fantasy. They think we can get to net zero carbon emissions by 2030 without ruining the economy….All while apparently giving extra time off for menopausal women. Fruitcake fantasy. Uncontrolled immigration, free access to the NHS for the whole world, release all detainees, votes for anyone, from anywhere, with welfare benefits for everyone who makes it across the channel. Fruitcake with extra fruitcake. They worry and fear monger about the Tories and the NHS, which is fundamentally a funding problem yet have apparently no issues with putting Corbyn and co in charge of Trident and Britain’s contribution to NATO…..NATO, an institution, which he sees as a tool of western imperialism. Labour, run by Corbyn, aren’t a serious political force, they are more like a protest group, a load of NGOs, who think that throwing other people’s money at problems will solve them. If they actually got in it would resemble a collection of sixth form commies holding the reigns of power. In some sense it would fit with my love of the absurd, but after a month the amusement would wear off.
Welcome back.

Edited by Willo (31 Oct 2019 9.33am) So without any attempt at analysing whether the policies of the then current guise of the party were actually in line with your own? Just on tribal lines? Like the "working class" vote Labour, come what may? Not many like you still out there.

It's rumoured locally that after the Halloween party tonight in our local that a group of public spirited folk are preparing to search the neighbourhood. They are taking the defibrillator with them. They aren't looking for the traditional bad spirits, ghosts or ghoulies but a very specific and particularly nasty and dangerous one. They will be searching the ditches looking for PMs about to expire as, much as some think he might deserve his comeuppance, it is thought he as cannot really be held responsible for being a prat, he ought to be saved so he can face the mirth of the electorate. Cue cartoons of Johnson dressed as Worzel Guumidge.

Genuine question Willo....why do you do that? Has there ever been an incidence anywhere, ever, where someone has seen a board in a muddy field and thought to themselves, "That's it. I was struggling to decide who to vote for in this election, but now I've seen that board I'm going to vote Conservative"? Or any party for that matter? Edited by Willo (31 Oct 2019 9.33am)

Not sure why that's come out as edited by Willo? Anyway, you get my drift.

Perhaps Willo will keep us informed of his door-step experiences as this turgid campaign unfolds. I plan to fill my water holder up and gently prod tory canvassers in its general direction. It will add some interest and kids love that sort of thing. Labour canvassers will be given a slap-up meal and a promise to vote for them 500 times at least.

Certainly no time for a running commentary on HOL. I will not have any canvassers from the other parties knock on my oak door, if indeed they bother to canvas in my area. The Conservative election boards and posters on prominent display will act as a deterrent!

Besides, the boards not only get erected in fields but on premises of supporters who wish to advertise their support in such a manner. They also indicate their support by posters in windows.Keeps away canvassers from other parties as well! Some local associations are more active in terms of the display of boards than others. Edited by Willo (31 Oct 2019 1.15pm)
