He liked a good slash. Yeah, in more ways than one.

Yeah, in more ways than one. He just seems so posh. Maybe all posh people are into that kind of thing? I'm struggling to remember his various nick names. His legendary wafting at balls outside off stump is never going to be beaten.

His legendary wafting at balls outside off stump is never going to be beaten. He had that 'Alexander' like confidence, some say arrogance, reminiscent of someone convinced he was born to bat for England.....hit his first ball for four. He would play and miss outside the off stump with nonchalance, like an obscenely rich gambler playing the tables without a care for losing. Played in an era of quality bowlers yet finished with an average higher than Gooch's.....which must have p1ssed off Graham something chronic. Edited by Stirlingsays (18 Aug 2019 7.34pm)

He will keep getting booed, especially in England, whatever the situation. He’s brave to come out again, but he’ll get no sympathy here, and nor should he in my opinion. We don’t like cheats and it will take a long time for us to forget about the sandpaper. The fact he’s the best batsman in the world doesn’t change that either. The occasion of the Ashes will fuel the crowds more. He’ll have to deal with that - and he has done very well so far

Atherton’s dirt on ball wasn’t great, but it was opportunist moment using dirt from the ground, which isn’t as extreme as a pre meditated act of bringing something illegal onto the pitch with the intention of cheating. Atherton’s has also been forgotten with time, as will Steve’s Smiths one day. For now he’s got to deal with it. The boozy northerners are going to give him a torrid time at Headingley compired to be gentlemen of Lords. This series will be most stick he gets, it will gradually die down after this.

I'd agree that Atherton's cheating wasn't as bad........still personally I think he received very forgiving treatment..... always been a part of the old boy's club. Everyone deserves a second chance. He didn't kill anyone at the end of the day. Well, some don't like Ian Huntley! That said, I'll never like him. Not for the cheating, but for that strange crying he did on the telly. Man up son, you got caught. It's a fair cop, take it on the chin. I'd imagine it was very embarrassing for his wife and kids. Great player though and I'd rather play the best. Perhaps it's time to stop the booing and get on with it? he's the type that will only thrive on it anyway. Edited by craig321 (19 Aug 2019 3.15pm)

Nowhere near as disgraceful as being the Captain of your National team and planning, then carrying out pre-meditated cheating. He should’ve been banned from the game for a minimum of 5 years! No way has he served his time, the ban was wholly inadequate and to be allowed to come back to first class cricket after such a short space of time is so very wrong. He is a shocking cheat, plain and simple and will always be known as one and he should be reminded of that at every opportunity.

The stigma against cheating on the field in cricket must be maintained at all costs.....as it literally isn't cricket once it loses that. The from the betting markets to the condition of the ball.

Shame to see him miss the 3rd test, though i thought Labuschagne did very well and will be a more than capable replacement.
