Good solid start from England. Great to see Roy return. Massive game for us

We live to fight another day i.e. v New Zealand and hopefully with a win to secure a semi-final place. It sounds as if the Indian contingent in the crowd were a bit miffed that the Indian batsmen didn't make a more concerted and aggressive effort over the last few overs.

And pakistan drop down a place and might think the same.

What a poor effort from MS Dhoni with his nurdling the ball into the gaps for singles when India desperately needed boundaries. If he was unwilling to sacrifice his wicket in a death or glory stand then I think that he may well be retired after this series has finished

I am not sure what Dhoni was thinking. The wicket of Hardik was crucial. From an Indian perspective the game went when he was out.

Rooty drops a catch, so he is human after all. Why anybody would want Buttler on instead of Root, God knows, it could only be the TMS commentators again. They are like Bairstow says, the change from adulation to arch-criticism usually after their own advice has been shown to be spectacularly wrong. Buttler is like Moeen, it is great when it comes off, only usually it just doesn't, and he is a very average wicket-keeper. One thing is for sure, an inspection of the cricket commentators own batting and bowling career averages will make you wonder how they have the cheek to be

I don't listen to TMS any longer as I can't stand Boycott or Tufnell so I don't know who you are referring to. Michael Vaughan was a world class batsman and captained England to an Ashes win in 2005 in what was slated as the best Ashes series ever. Graeme Swann was also a world class bowler although I won't forgive him for walking out on England when we were fighting a losing Ashes battle in Australia. Hopefully you are referring to Tufnell who has proved that you can make a decent career out of being a talentless tw@t

Of course Vaughan was an excellent Captain. However Vaughan's limited-overs batting rarely lived up to his success in Tests. In fact, despite a total of 86 matches played, he never made a One Day International century. This at a time when England would struggle to score 250 in a match. Thankfully yesterday the team was not able to hear their advice and won the game !! Swan was in panic mode over Roots 'manipulations' and wanted Buttler on immediately. Funny with Buttlers prompt demise it went all quiet.

All true, but regarding the low totals lets not forget the rule and fielding changes to the one day game which enabled far larger totals.
