The actual solutions to this are too expensive both fiscally and socially for our politicians to touch with a barge pole. So the best advice for those troubled by the idea of your teenagers and women living near gangs is to leave as soon as practically possible....leave the area. You aren't considered important, far more resources and concerns will always been aimed at the problem rather than the people who aren't causing problems....they will aim the resources but they won't really solve the problem. I've been saying for some time what the reality for this country is and it's increasing balkanization. Like in most things we will follow how America is going and that same conclusion is already happening here. We can look at things like race, gang culture, poverty and all these things because while they are all factors at the end of the day it really comes down to decent people and those that are lost. I only feel sorry for the decent people who don't have means to ever move and who are stuck in these areas. Edited by Stirlingsays (06 Mar 2019 8.16pm)

The other problem is that the system often ties the hands of the police as does the obsession with appearing to be politically correct. Maybe we should cut police by another 20,000?

I've lived in a place with no crime and lived in places with loads of crime. I don't think it's to do with poverty. If people start to realise that there are no excuses then we might progress. Criminals are not the victim. Locking them up and taking them off the streets works. ... As far as I'm concerned, hang the tickets and spend government money on good people struggling to make their way in life instead.... call it positive reinforcement. Ooh, another 'agenda' maybe? None whatsoever beyond establishing which categories constitute non-hate crimes. Those that leave the victim feeling refreshed, reinvigorated and altogether happier for the experience.

Maybe they can’t bring themselves to discuss the real reasons and causes of this illness, just like the politicians they share so much in common with. Turn the other cheek. You don’t have to face up to reality or oppose your beliefs. it is shameful that 'That website' claims to represent our beloved football club. i echo the sentiments of another poster above who finally gave up and left London after decades here. Its too much grief for anybody looking for a quiet life. knife crime is probably going to get worse before we see any concerted push to fix the problem.

Four words that says all you need to know.
What a lot of youngsters don't get told in life and have to find out the hard way is that your intrinsic value to others is only to be found in what you can offer within society. Instead they get fed a lot of warm words by well meaning but ideological people and have this notion that they are entitled to a good life. It results in a generation of people with higher expectations than their reality could provide who end up bitter and frustrated. Youngsters need sensible people around them in their formative years. These youngsters committing crime on the high street are usually wearing helmets on scooters, although the Somalians only wear bandanas. I know there’s other crime like pick pocketing but in crowded places it’s fiffic to spot or get on camera.
