Frustrating to say the least but we have one more point than we thought we'd get from the last two games. For all the attempts and misses today we had few attempts against City and ended up with three goals.

I thought it was odd that Shlupp was replaced with Kouate today and that Hodgson took Meyer off.
I get that Wickham needs game time but Meyer is a key creative player and Kouate was pants today.

Cardiff are poor in front of goal but decent behind the ball. We needed to to be smarter to break them down.

2 points wasted and a message to Parish that money needs to be spent.

It had a draw all over it from the start! One more point gained and in all honesty - we play like a real football team now.
Burnley, Newcastle and Huddersfield lost as well...this looks good.

31 shots, 5 on target, says it all really. Could have played until New Years Days and wouldn't have got a goal. Still a point is a point and they all count at the end of the season.

My last signature was just too long.

7 points off bottom 3, vastly superior goal difference, team gelling well.

Transfer window coming up... reasons to be cheerful.

Says it all. Two strikers needed in transfer window with the need to offload the likes of Ayew and Sorloth who just haven't made it happen for the club.

but against Cardiff

I'm still in avoiding relegation mode - and our points difference over third from bottom went up by one. Neil Warnock usually leaves with something, and Brighton are losing.

Agreed. Today was the classic day of totally outplaying a team and settling for a draw. It happens. At least we didn't lose like a few years ago to Villa (actually happened 2 times).

Half way through the season and on 19 points. Six teams below and clear of the relegation zone by 7 points. We aren't playing well enough for top 6, but I don't feel we're in massive danger of relegation either, which is a change, and massive relief.

Let's see if we can nab 3 points from Chelsea!

So annoying. We seem so good at parking the bus and countering against the big boys. But when we are the favourites and have the lions share of the ball we cannot finish the inumeral chances. Without amazing stop from VG that could have been a nightmare. Hopefully this might encourage the board to buy a striker. Good to see Wickham back and good to see him leave the pitch under his own steam and not on a stretcher. Happy Xmas all.

I hear you. I'm always shifting to mid table mode. Like you say though a point's a point and from a regulation angle it's a good result and something to be happy about.

Reasons to be cheerful.

We have a prem class goalkeeper
Meyer is now fully integrated into the side
Wickham was on the pitch looking decent
We’ve had a pants run but are well off the bottom

I’d have taken this position at the start of the season.

Three teams have 12 points or less at exactly halfway, Cardiff aren't one of them and we have a 7 point cushion.
