Do you think Palace should not be considering other options and let the season drift if results don’t improve then ?

I don't believe that as things stand they are considering any options at all.Hodgson has a lot of credit in the bank for keeping us up last season against all the odds and we are hardly in the relegation zone and cut-adrift.Besides, significant sums of money haven't been lavished on players whilst he has been in charge.

THE board will be negligent if they are at least not considering other options.
Hughes kept Southampton up last year and Jovanacic did an outstanding job las year getting Fulham promoted.
Both have been replaced and there has been no clamour or outrage as the decisions were understandable.
Both clubs have similar records to Palace this season and neither manager was getting the best out of their resources.
It’s not like Huddersfield, Cardiff and Burnley who have limited resources.
If results don’t improve before Christmas the board may have to act despite Roy being a local chap and decent fellow.
And it’s difficult to accept the argument , ‘but who would come in ?’
Do we want another Pardew situation where it’s allowed to drift?

You know there is a difference between succession planning which is good and lining up the next short term replacement. Hodgson is a good manager, would you have wanted Hughes in the summer if not why would you want him now.

For me Roy has to change his tactics as if you keep doing the same thing you will get the same result. I'm just not sure he can.

Zaha and Townsend are best when running at defenders not standing with their back to them as strikers, hoping one of the 4 center midfielders we are playing in a very narrow system can do something different and supply the ball for them to run on to or attack in the box.

Zaha attracts 2 or 3 players when coming from a deeper/wider position which opens up space and time for the other players.

Roy persists in playing our best two players at running with the ball up top and is making them ineffective.
We can't keep saying we are unlucky, we need to change something. One of our 2 fit strikers should play upfront so at least our two best forwards can play where they have the most impact.

Certainly don’t want Hughes.
The central point is that we are underperforming badly.
The back four are probably as good as anything outside the top 6.
People were worried about losing Luka to a Champions League club in the summer his form was so good.
We have solid experienced premier league players like Mcarthur, Kouyate and Townsend.
We have the jewel in the crown in Zaha and supposedly one of the best young players in Europe in Meyer.
I am fed up of seeing an inflexible one size fits all approach with players being shoehorned into positions where they don’t naturally play to fit in with Roy’s 4-4-2 system.
I am not advocating that Roy goes now but if the pattern of the early months of the season continues then the board need to be in a position to have a potential replacement.

The balls up of the tranfer windows is a huge problem but the above, our lack of consistency and Roy's snail's pace reaction to changes in the game (if he reacts at all) are the more worrying problems that may not be solved by a good transfer window. Personally I think there must be something wrong in our training regime somewhere too. I think we're really missing Sammy Lee, letting him go (I don't know the facts tbh so it may have been unavoidable) was a mistake.

I have a worrying feeling that Roy is taking it easy and just working through his last season before retirement (lack of support from the board could also be contributing to this).

You may be right. The only thing that the players seem to be picking up in training at the moment is injuries.

Now equal second with Spiritu Santo in the sack race at 6 / 1; usual t*** is favourite, of course.

I think we have been riding our luck for too long papering over the cracks that are clearly there.

We need a major striker and not another cheap unknown gamble.

We are way too predictable and far too defensive. We are relying on 2/3 players out of 11 to provide all of our creative flair and that is another reason why we are not causing problems.

It was an absolute disgrace last night but after only 10 minutes you could see it coming. We were unable to string more than 3 forward passes together and were constantly giving it away and inviting Brighton to attack us. We made a very average side look good and there was no heart, organisation or ability on show.

I pray this is the kick up the backside we needed but sadly I expect pretty much the same formation and tactics and we will get beat again.

And as for Zaha, looking at last night I would not be surprised if he has made his mind up and will ask for a transfer in January!

This could be a very difficult time for the club and even if we manage to survive again you can almost guarantee it will be the same again next year.

TBF an awful lot of people on here were urging him to play zaha and townsend up top. Worked well against burnley, but on the whole doesn't work.

Even when benteke was fit he was playing zaha off him up top, looking isolated and in no way as influential as he should be and as bad as benteke has been converting chances, to be fair to him hodgson has never set us up to play to his strengths. He quite clearly can't get the best out of these players and won't even attempt to change things up.

Our wage bill is huge and I can't see there being a substantial amount to spend in January so id get rid of hodgson. Nearly every pundit says palace are too good to go down, that in itself says we have the talent and are under performing. Still think there will be 3 teams worse than us at the end of the season but I'm getting fed up and bored of these meaningless seasons now.

Zaha will 100% leaving in the summer. Ask yourself this question. Would you want to honestly watch this football under hodgson without zaha in our team because I wouldn't, it would be abysmal.
