I wouldn't be surprised if a charge from the FA is on the way to him.

Agree. Whilst it was obvious to us, it may not have been to other referees. Not sure what a ref can do about it though if they are taking it in turns. Perhaps make sure that the player is given a yellow to ensure that he doesn't do it again (or a red in the case of the Capoue rake on Zaha. If he notices that this is happening (and it doesn't take too much intelligence to spot) then he warns their captain that the next one (and any subsequent) of his players doing so will be booked - no argument.

Sadly he is only saying what every Team does - maybe even including ours although possibly not under Roy who is a fair minded man. That is so true. A friend of mine used to play for Reading and Chesterfield and the team talk beforehand used to focus on the oppositions best player and the instructions were to "take him out asap. Talking of taking him out my friend once nutmegged an England centre half and was told "the next time you do that son I'll break your effing leg". They were hard in those days.

In theory this should happen, BUT, in practice, it doesn't, which is a shame. When I was officiating, I would warn Captains, but, when it was obvious(usually within 30secs) that players didn't heed my 'instructions, SO, I cautioned the very next player that committed a foul.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Deeney has done us a favour with his honesty. So they bend the rules to the max? Anyone think we don't? I'm always mightily relieved when our opponents are trying to break and one of our midfielders fouls them. Even more so if we do it sneakily and avoid a booking. I hope Wilf reads it and takes on board that they partly do it to wind him up. For the good of the game, team fouling should be outlawed. It's been a tactic for many years and it discourages skill.

As long as they give notice they are allowed to say" enough is enough. The next guy who deliberately fouls X goes in the book".

That’s the whole point. They can get three bookings to three players before a red is shown... kicking lumps out of the lad.

It must be very challenging for Wilf to have so much responsibility on his shoulders, knowing that without him in the team,we are almost certain to lose.

There was an article in the Evening s***ard yesterday where the writer was saying something along the lines of "take after Hazard, get up and make them pay". What a load of cobblers, these are career threatening injuries we are witnessing, if the refs did their job correctly according to the laws of the game, these defenders would think twice before making appalling challenges. That piece of s*** Watford player's rake on Wilf was red all day long, the ref condoned his play by awarded only a yellow.
