You mean we’ve gotta go through all this again in January?!!

Transfer windows are getting more difficult, agents are demanding more, and clubs now won’t sell until they have a replacement player in first.
It’s usual that Palace leave things to the last minute and it does annoy me, as with past windows reports come out that Palace are trying to sign this player and that player with 15 minutes of the window remaining, it all makes it rather unprofessional and clutching at straws.
I do wonder if submitting these accounts late has something to do with our dealings even though the club has shown a healthy profit.
I’m not really sure how we stand with the FFP ruling maybe that has something to do with it. Getting our house in order and privatising players to contacts seems to be a priority which is understandable, maybe there waiting to see what’s left in the kitty.

On the other hand, one does wonder what Dougie Freedman does all day throughout the year. And his counterparts at other clubs.

Because he was involved with Sorloth that detracts from the fact that actually his role is less centred around transfers?

I think he made it quite clear in January, in quite a few press conferences, that Parish & Freedman took the lion share of responsibility from a transfers POV.

I think the only conclusion we can really draw almost a year in, is that Freedman is useless at his job & we were wrong to use one window as a Championship side to determine his scouting genius. Here’s to hoping he pulls something special out the bag, but after January I’m not gonna hold my breathe.

I must have missed those as I had no idea he’d made it clear. I heard what he wanted and obviously he didn’t get the goalie but we dont always get what we want. Even if we are or are not involved..

Track record of managers shows IMO the club involve the manager in signings. Pardew and Sam are good examples... we backed them and bought the players that wanted.

I honestly can’t imagine we’ve decided not to do that with Roy.

Just because we have Freedman doesn’t mean Roys not signing off on transfers...

The truth is none of us know what the dynamic is between Parish, Roy, Freedman and Coe, or how much of a say Blitzer and Harris have. If Roy's happy with it then fine, if he's not we could be in a spot of bother.

BTW,

Any news yet of Roy having signed that new contract purportedly offered??

No transfers No Money?

I apologise in advance if I am making a point that someone else has made but I haven't seen it. If we are in financial trouble or money is tight then I think it is unlikely we would have offered Wilf or Roy new contract extensions. This is not what you do if you are trying to save money

Wilf signed a new contract last season and has a long time to run, his value would not have been increased by any new offer. All it may have done is put off some potential suitors and if you are paying around £70 million would an extra half million a year (10k a week) really make a difference.

I don't think Roy was actively looking at a contract extension because of his age and what I deduce of his personality from interviews. He has come home and while both sides are happy he will stay. Obviously this includes money to an extent but that is not as I see it his main driver.

SP has on twitter commented on the right players and that makes sense. I think we are waiting on a few players involved in World Cup.

1)RLC situation to be clarified and if this is a purchase then it will take up a fair amount of our spare cash.
2)Possibly 2 from Belgium Boyata and Dendonker.

We were rumored to be interested in a player from Russia and due to Roy's contacts in Sweden a player from Scandinavia is always possible.

A lot has been made of our January dealings - I feel that Solorth and Rakip were Roy's choices (because of Scandinavia links) Jach I think was a Freedman find but I am sure Roy was in agreement

No, but he could have signed a week ago bearing in mind the speed at which we announce things.
