I've said it before, test cricket in the north shouldn't be allowed.

I'm a Durham supporter (long story) and the ECB kindly allowed them first class status conditional on them building a test match ground. Durham built a shiny new expensive test ground and the ECB responded by giving them the occasional test match in May and then complained when no-one wanted to go.

They got one T20 or ODI match, can't remember which, and then picked that game to give Ben Stokes a rest. Not to mention they got relegated and remain financially knackered.

Much of their losses stem from hosting test matches against unfancied opposition in May with the last one being held 10 days after a test at Headingly against the same opposition. Durham were financially bailed out by ECB, stripped of their test match ground status and relegated to division two with a 48 point deduction for the following season but when Glamorgan got into financial difficulties over loss making test matched they were given a hefty hand out by ECB as a reward for not hosting any more

The ECB are right on the money selling the game to the English public. After sitting in the drizzle for most of the day the spectators can watch an hour and a half, but that's all folks its time for tea !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and that will be £50 please 'without your support the game would die'.

I was at an Ashes Test at Edgbaston a few years ago when it rained almost all day but they managed to get in 15 overs (just over an hour's play) at the end of the day so that they didn't have to give refunds

who would have thought that, I wonder what you could have got for that on an Asian betting syndicate? And now we're out for 363 1st innings, the exact score pakistan got 1st test. This is an odd series.

Gave a decent interview afterwards too. Buttler just goes to show that you need to be in form, and not necessarily in the conditions or the format.

ODI. Scotland 371 - 5 Scotland won by 6 runs. Normal service resumed. Chucked away from unloseable positions several times. What an embarrassing shower of s***e. Perhaps we should send Scotland to Australia instead?

Perhaps we should send Scotland to Australia instead? We were never in an unloseable position, though I must say I thought we'd be okay when it was 27 required from 33 after Plunkett hit that 6. The bowling was simply appalling but we actually lost it in the fielding as Scotland saved a number of balls from going for boundaries (Budge particularly) while we had more than a few fumbles. It was a bit like when Sven f***ed about against Australia and it bites England on the arse, to be recalled forever more. Buttler in instead of Billings and we'd have walked it. Woakes, Stokes and Curran were all missed from the bowling line up.
