In despair nobody to help or turn to.

How does any human being react?

'God, please help me!'

Good luck with that.

Following Christ to perfection is not possible, of course, but we are expected to strive to come as close to His Example as we can. There are varying degrees of falling short, as you say, but there is also outright hypocrisy, people who instead of repenting of their sin try to justify it by claiming that what they are doing is actually good and mandated by God, typically citing some tenuous reference to some Old Testament reference as "evidence".

They probably start out by following the "broad and easy path" (Matt. 7 : 13-14) which leads them astray, not because they are actively evil at the outset, but because they lack application or are easily led. The parable of the sower breaks this down further (Matt. 13 : 1-23).

You have no idea who Christ was. I am sure if he existed at all, he would have been a man just like you and me with all the same limitations.
Trying to live up to some revised literary invention is bonkers. You might as well try to aspire to be like Robin Hood or King Arthur.

If something like the events at Wacco had happened thousands of years ago and had been written up by supporters.....I have little doubt that we'd have adherents praising the name of Koresh today.

Try saying this before you go to bed each night..

Our brains, which art in our heads, treasured be thy names. Thy reasoning come. The best you can do be done on earth as it is. Give us this day new insight to resolve conflicts and ease pain. And lead us not into supernatural explanations, deliver us from denial of logic. For thine is the kingdom of reason, and even though thy powers are limited, and you’re not always glorious, you are the best evolutionary adaptation we have for helping this earth now and forever and ever. So be it.

I'm now bored with your trying to force your religion, or lack thereof, down my throat. I'm pretty sure you'd get pissed off if I tried to poselyise you on here so perhaps you'd be kind enough to afford me the same courtesy.

Nothing you say will turn me into an atheist; actually you're achieving the exact opposite. So you'd be well advised to leave it there.

If by "facetious" you mean "downright rude", then you may well be right.

Rude is subjective. Here in Spain what we call rude, they call our way of life and its different to your polite society.

Facetious to me, means flippant, or direct but never rude.

You seem to think that religious belief and lack of it are equal. They aren't. Faith is akin to a mental illness. Only someone with issues reads a 2000 year old book of allegorical tales and reimagined history and believes it as an absolute truth.

It's not your belief that bothers me, it's the fact that people like you will pass this kind of twaddle on to their kids, like my sister in law who sends her children to confession, the stupid cow.

It deserves facetiousness but sadly religion is all too serious in many places.

Not a bit funny for them.

This is about Christians, not your personal agenda. An example apt for Christians would be the denial of medical care from minors by parents in the US, or UK.

Start another thread.
