I suppose it is possible that he feels that his calf is not quite right and he doesn't want to play only for it to go again which of course is not in his interests or in the interests of the club, who knows ? Perhaps there is a great deal of scepticism amongst the majority of our supporters but one suspects that he will be given a rapturous welcome if/ when he returns given our desperate situation in central defence and his performances for us to-date.

In the interests of HOL I patently refuse to take the bait, laid by those whose comments not only de-rail the thread but are looking for a response which will only continue to veer the debate well away from the subject matter. Perhaps the discussion can return to the actual subject matter. You're the one that mentioned the Daily Fail.

Like I said earlier, Physioroom.com says he's out until March 17th, despite what Roy Hodgson says: [Link]

It was Roy, in his pre-Spurs press conference, who said that, despite the views of the medical team and the management, the player felt unable to return. As for paternity leave, footballers are fortunate in working what, for most people would be part-time hours and, in this case, getting paid £100k a week to do so. In light of that I expect the needs of the job, particularly in light of the club's injury crisis, to come first. All he was being asked to do is turn up for a few hours on a Sunday and put a shift in.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

There was encouragement on Sunday with Arron Wan-Bassika considered to have made an outstanding debut. Talking of fear, I would like to see some more debuts - perhaps with Sakho and Benteke left on the bench. The sight of that two - when the younger players have put us ahead - starting to warm up at 55 minutes and both coming on at 60 could be very effective against any opposition (with the bonus of not needing to survive 90 minutes either for them or the intended players to be substituted). Hope Roy H. was as impressed as must of us with the right back from our Academy. Maybe we'll see more of the young ones comin' on - and they won't certainly make lesser impact than our Belgian main man on top. One more thing, put Sørloth in defence when opposition has corners...a lot better than a sub coming on for injured defender in the last 10 minutes!

Both Benteke and Sørloth come back and defend for corners already

I understand what you are saying, regardless what he gets paid he still is a father of a new born and if he is a doting dad family over work works for me,as for injury i had a calf injury, done everything right to get fit, cleared by my doctor and pyshio to start playing 15 mins into a game ruptured my calf muscle that was me finished, calf never was the same also ended up with a DVT, he maybe feeling it pull more in the freezing weather hence saying he is scared the injury might recure so i would let him be judge of his own body
