He's played at least 16 times in the Champions League unlike most players in the PL.

Sorry if it's posted elsewhere, but does anyone know what Benfica paid for Rakip? That might give a perspective on what we have bought.

According to Swedish papers there is a €10m buy out option.

Poster fagghee says Rakip is valued, or at least release clause valuation, at 10 million Euro; that's the price of lower end Premiership players and, coupled with trust in Roy, makes me optimistic about the signing.

Don't know how accurate this is but Roy is quoted as saying "Jaroslaw, yes, he's one we've been following for a while, he's come over and had his medical and I'm hoping he'll sign for us, that's one piece of good news for me. "There's a loan of a Swedish midfield player from Benfica. "One's 23, and the other boy Erdal Rakip is only 21, so we're trying to invest a bit in the future too. "We believe when everybody's fit we do have quite a good squad of players, it's not necessarily trying to replace the squad I've got, but cover." Which is a strange thing to say about a short term loan signing so it wouldn't surprise me if we had an option to buy.
Bangell - If Camus wrote The Myth of Sisyphus today, it would be about Jason Puncheon eternally trying and failing to pass with his right foot. |

According to reports he chose Benfica and was unaware that they intended to loan him out in Portugal. There was a strong suggestion in reports that he was unhappy with this. Initially reports said there was no buy out clause in loan and maybe that has been why it has taken a few days

To be honest I hadn't heard of him until quite recently and have never seen him play. And we certainly won't be blowing "Massive amounts" on marquee signings. We aren't shopping at Harrods. Edited by Willo (22 Jan 2018 5.12pm) Remarkable. I too hadn't heard of him until quite recently and have never seen him play. Has anyone else not heard of him until quite recently and have never seen him play?

Returning to the serious part of the debate, Rakip played for Malmo and hasn't played for Benfica since he was transferred at the end of the Swedish season - the Swedish season ends in early November.
