So far as the CB position, I still think we are a bit vulnerable in that both Sakho and Tomkins are injury prone, and as we know Dann is out for the season. Amadou would provide cover for Luka if he got injured. In midfied he could make left midfield his own since Loftus Cheek is out for who knows how long. So I think he’s a high quality utility player who could fit in pretty well. Also we have only 1left back owing to Schlupps injury . Also he seems to have captaincy and inspirational qualities.

That is 3 possibly 4 not enough with injuries/suspensions.

Lille no longer have a cashflow problem so don't now need to sell Amadou, it would seem. OTOH this one reckons €11m for Terrier won't float their boat and they need more like €25m. Edited by chateauferret (30 Jan 2018 9.36am)

Personally I think we need another defensive midfielder. When cabaye doesn't play wd look a bit weak in the centre and he seems to struggle to play 90 mins these days. Wouldn't really call macarthur defensive and reindwald is z good prospect but not there yet. Need z real powerhouse in the middle in my opinion.

I think he is just the sort of player we need. At the expense of a decent striker, no, but I would like to sign him all the same.

Seems to like to play 2 up front, so with our attacking wingers, it would be sensible to play with 2 defensive midfielders.

If we were prepated to pay £16m in the first place I can't see the sense in buggering about any more. I think the alternative to paying up is to see Cabaye collapse from exhaustion. Do it.
