We already have our man. I doubt it is coincidence that Steven Reid was given a relatively senior role so young. I think Roy sees something in him and could see him being groomed to step up to the top job.

Have reviewed Stephen Reid - hope he and the First Team are encouraging each other.

It’s a ridiculous thread. Any excuse to start a topic. It’s pointless, it’s null. We should be thinking about plans WITH Roy, not planning for his retirement already. The bloke comes in changes things and people are talking about what to do when he’s gone. Could be 3 years yet, how are we supposed to predict what happens between now and then. Very sensible thread. Remember when we last failed to plan? Summer of 2017. We all know what happened then don't we?

The only thing that'll scupper plans is results collapse because players stop listening. Roy being poached or us moving him out due to delusional nonsense won't happen with Roy so there is a better chance he could survive 3 seasons, health and Roy's enthusiasm permitting. But of course there's a trend for it to turn to sh1t because players stop responding, but it won't be because they're not prepared, drilled or fit enough as with Pardew and Slavan Bilic et al.

it would be so typically palace for woy to finish the season having sorted the squad out then sadly pass away or retire, hopefully the latter. IMO woy is our last chance saloon weve burnt our way through all the experienced safe PL hands who would come to us. unless we pull off a massive coup the next appointment will be a risky one.

We haven't given Mark Hughes a go yet, I feel he will be available soon. God forbid.

Life expectancy increases every year Willo! Apart from that my guess is that Roy is a little more moderate on the booze quote=Willo;3283705] Ferguson retired at 71.Hodgson hasn't got too long to each that age !

Suggestions like Jedi because he's a leader and knows the club, or bringing in someone else to learn under Roy, but what about a bloke who ticks those boxes is already here and has actually spent the last five years learning about coaching, and seems to be doing a very good job with the youngsters?
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

Is he? I am ashamed to say that I am not aware of how well he's doing as a coach. Anyone care to enlighten?

I'm no where near Roy's age but I've always respected older people for their life and often business experiences. It's quite ridiculous to see the number of ageist comments on here which indicates that this type of discrimination is rife in the UK. There's so little respect for older people in the last 20 years, maybe the younger generations are simply jealous of people like Roy's achievements in life.
