At first i thought he should be left out but because we are playing Watford whose manager Marco Silva likes zonal marking Benteke could be very effective. Remember last season when we played Silva's Hull he scored with a soaring header with Maguire not even getting off the ground

Would bench Benteke from the start, put RLC in the middle of the park assisted with Cabaye, Luka & Macca. Wilf & Andros on top and see how it work the first 60 min. Then maybe, put Tekkers on. Or Sako - at least he has a go!!

As it stands we need a striker in January, a difficult enough task in itself, as history has shown. Under your plan we'd need to sign three, which would be extremely difficult in the summer and impossible (especially for a relegation candidate) in January.

Who on earth is going to buy an injured Wickham anyway?

My personal opinion is let RH and his staff sort it out along with the players to get Tekkers head right.
Whatever they do will be for the good of the squad.
I think he will play tomorrow ... and hopefully he will bang in some goals.
Yes I am still gutted he took the penalty and was a complete melt and fluffed it but lets get behind the team ... don't forget we are bottom again.

Yep, I'd agree with this. The last thing we need is someone being benched just because fans are angry.

If the manager, rest of the squad and Benteke himself have sorted things out, then he should play as normal.

Unfortunately there will be other talking points including Lee Chung-Yong's suicidal back pass, Kelly's fannying about on the ball and Speroni kicking the ball out to Dann for starters

You can go back to Saturday for a number of incidents. It doesn't all come down to one moment.

Dann skying over from 3 yards (as well as his miss at Burnley), Luka poking wide from 8 yards etc.

Due to absolute gross mis-management we have no fit alternative to Benteke on the books, so he has to play.

The sale of Murray and Gayle now looks, with hindsight, a terrible misjudgment

And as already noted, the drawback of making your goalkeeper captain has been exposed.

Well yes, that as well, of course.

I've just re-watched the highlights and for the first goal it is Bentenke flicking the ball on to Wilf who wins the penalty. For the second it is Bentenke showing composure in the box to find Cabaye who sets up Dann. For the second penalty it is Bentenke holding the ball up to play Wilf in. Yes, he did then miss that penalty, but had he scored he would have had a big hand in every goal.

On another occasion he surged forward from his own half with the ball and he was only stopped when someone fouled him (something which the opposition did continuously to stop him winning headers).

I've decided I'm going to stick two fingers up to all the haters and stick up for the big man. He shouldn't have taken that penalty but he was a big part as to why we were able to create so many chances yesterday and if he gets his confidence back in front of goal he will be a beast again.

It seems Benteke has been clearly told what everyone thought of his actions. Jules seemed to recommend we forgive and move on. If he plays to the full extent of his ability I think, although I was as angry as anyone, he should be forgiven. Watford are beatable (yes, I know we've said that about several recent opponents) but with a determined-to-redeem-himself-Benteke I'd say our chances of 3 points are greater. Isn't it always best to encourage any player who is actually on the pitch playing for us, however we feel about his long-term future and potential?
An apologetic statement from Benteke himself via social media or club might still be appropriate if it's not been done yet.

The only way he's going to be any good is if he has someone running on to his knockdowns or he can build a chemistry with Zaha.

I think Wilf is wasted in the middle, he's so much better out wide. He doesn't have the anticipation needed to partner up top, although I guess this can be worked on.
