So much for retirement, the USMNT, and his epiphany after the manchester bombing.

Wonder what the real reason is why he resigned...

1. One we're a small club, just like the ones he turned down.

2. He can work on and off for 6 months or whatever if they get frustrated with just mid table.

3. He gets to commute close to home in Bolton.

4. There were terms where either cpfc or Sam could part in the summer. He chose to part.

Nothing much else to see here.

Probably this, I had always thought perhaps him and SP had a row.

All in all, I think Roy has proven to be the better fit for us.

Did SP definitely have a written contract obliging a £2m payment to the club if Fatso returned to another Premiership side within 18 mths???

The Everton job is the only job he was likley to be offered which even begun to match his ambition (in The UK anyway). Everton are a large club, who never expect to be so far down this league. If they were in The top half, there is no way they would appoint SA.

He didn't want another relegation battle, but he's got one - a small price to pay for being at such a club. But and a lot of work to do, and by no means a guarantee of success.

I never used to like SA, but over the Past year or so, my view on him has changed somewhat. he is constantly sold as the other man to get to save you from Relegation, which has no real substance if you look at his previous, and one who plays boring football. as far as I can tell this came from his Last few years at Bolton - they weren't always like that with the likes of JJ Okocha in his ranks.

The only thing that I'm a little disappointed/surprised with that he's gone back to Everton after saying that they took too long. it's obvious they didn't really want him, so I would have liked him to turn them down. but this is the Perfect job for SA - and the only one in the UK that he had a Chance of getting, and he would accept.

Fail here, though, and where's left?
Good luck to him. He did good by us, and deserves his chance.
hopefully we get some money out of it too!

Lets face it, SA saved us from relegation last season, and I doubt whether anyone else could have. He is a really excellent manager. The only problem is he will do an equally good job for Everton. We needed Everton to have appointed a really c... manager to maximise their chances of relegation, and they havn’t. .

All you suckers who actually believed that he was leaving for family reasons and other daft stories.

He left because we were not big or ambitious enough for him. It was obvious at the time and this season has proved him right.

Adds a really interesting element to the forthcoming relegation battle.

Not such a difficult rescue as us last year.

I think he may have run out of road though.

Any takers?

Are you saying Mr Allardyce is a liar? Surely not.

Believing other people surely is not the way you view the world is it....

Could be totally genuine, could be not. He may be able to work close to where his family wants to be, he may just want the money but in the end of the day he kept us up and for that I for one will be grateful.
