Even Brighton was just starting to be pink friendly back then. Excellent, I didn't know that, maybe I was a bit young, this was in my pre-pub days. I used to go to the indoor market to buy my RPGs (geeky kid that I was) off a bloke called Bat, if I remember right. Bloody hell this thread's dredging up all sorts of memories.
Bangell - If Camus wrote The Myth of Sisyphus today, it would be about Jason Puncheon eternally trying and failing to pass with his right foot. |

I saw a lovely view of Croydon today, From Oxleas woods in Falconwood. Dunno how far away it is, but you could see the rays of the sun beaming right into the heart of the place. From my view, Croydon Looked magical almost. Shame it's not quite so magical when yer in it. Innit. Edited by nickgusset (22 Oct 2017 11.16pm)

and as for the prices they charge at the Grants Vue cinema, for a mid-week viewing ? i am not surprised the place seems to be empty most of the time. Just looked at their website. 24 Quid for a couple to watch a movie this evening (monday). Plus tons extra for popcorn and a fizzy drink.....i would need to speak to my bank manager to negotiate a payment plan. Edited by PalazioVecchio (23 Oct 2017 10.43am)

I have actually spotted a forlorn tree, the top of which pokes up between some offices/flats. A remarkable discovery and Sir David Attenborough will lead a BBC team to prove its authenticity. Apparently it has survived by having homeless people relieve themselves against it.

I still live in Croydon, although its current state is quite sad, I'm fairly used to it all, the knife crime, the neglected buildings, the amount of people who have been left homeless, I hope we can change it one day and have happier residents and also get away from having the reputation of being one of London's biggest sh*tholes

Croydon is changing....Box park is a great recent addition as are the new apartments in the process of going up between East Croydon station and West Croydon....long overdue and largely as a result of Westfield...when it gets going. The place will rise like a Phoenix in the next 5 years

Until the monstrosity that is Wellesley Road is disappeared, the very ugly, vile and soulless centre of the town, everything else is just p1ssing in the wind really. And I see they are building just more tall concrete wonders too. Marvellous.
