First of all, there is a finite amount of time and I have to manage the topics we cover. To illustrate wh at I mean, we abandoned our 7pm pre-record after spending 45mins talking about ffp. Have we got no "gems" from abroad? I think SP addressed this and rightly pointed out that as palace fans, in general we will notice the successes at other clubs and not the failures. He mentioned Lamine of Southampton and make the point that we have signed Luka and Riedwald in that position. What else did you want? On the academy he has updated us on the training facilities and advised that the very recent appointment of DF is to address the failures to properly manage that academy. Then he pointed out the differences in managing it now vs in the past. What more did you want? Should I have told him off for neglecting it? I am not saying we couldn't have gone into detail but I think to satisfy some predispositions we would need 16 hours and some we would never satisfy. One thing no interviewer, professional or amateur, would do is attempt to start an argument to appease irate people. We have a responsibility to ask questions but also to allow a message to be communicated. We don't need to chase hyperbole or sensationalism content like talksport I think we get a lot more actual information because of that. Not seen one argument that has give any way to changing that view but I'm open to it. Edited by Hambo (18 Sep 2017 2.26pm) I'm not critical of your job, but maybe some question could be expanded on. I've listened to the interview twice and no offence to you but I feel I haven't learnt much, that I didn't know already. Of course it depends on steve's time but maybe you should cover 2 topics throughly. Imo

Not seen one argument that has give any way to changing that view but I'm open to it. Edited by Hambo (18 Sep 2017 2.26pm) I think this is quite common now with Parish. If there's a criticism or a big error, there's a mini success to give as an answer which is fine if the project or organisation is not much bigger than the success mentioned. But the problem is there's lots of these failings and answering that we signed Like and Riedewald doesn't solve our's. Similar with the 1 striker problem. Goes off about Frazier Campbell. I mean, where do you begin? 'Has problems scoring from time to time.' Sure it's not all of the time? I think it's got a bit too big and demanding for SP and I think a lot of this could be answered with looking for an experienced dof to either provide impartial and not Ex-CPFC advice that's taken. It's not as if we can't afford it. Might save fortunes too. Edited by Rudi Hedman (18 Sep 2017 2.38pm)

Apologies if you've taken that personally, it wasn't intended in that way and if I am being fair to you, you probably have proved me/him wrong on that, to an extent, whichever way a person interprets what he said. I'm not sure if it's to the extent you think it is though. The screenshot you sent had a few people celebrating the news and a couple of people (I think I counted 3 actually) specifically praising him for the news. All I saying is you can't take the praise, without the criticism. I'll leave it there. He gets both imo.

Rarely do I get more than the initial critique! In an ideal world we'd do regular in depth interviews on limited topics but I gather the experience of being a PL chairman is a busy one so I am delighted with the time we do get I'm responding quite forcefully as I am really trying to understand what it is people want. Your answer (More detail) I get, but I don't equate that with giving someone a "grilling" to be honest.

Your answer (More detail) I get, but I don't equate that with giving someone a "grilling" to be honest. It's definitely a fine balance...even with Diyar seemingly striking a note with some as to what they think it's not WHAT you ask but the WAY you ask it that gets the results. You all do a great job...even (begrudgingly) the Kiev muncher Jeremy especially as none of you do this for a living. It's just as much a sense of pride for me that we have people willing to spend their spare and precious time to actually produce a forum for the rest of us. Clearly as with SP you have to take the rough with the smooth and perhaps if more 'contributed' to the fundraiser you'd be able to afford Paxman...but not many did (even though you hit your target). Nevertheless, to have a fans show created and delivered by true fans and then to have dialogue with a Chairman, who whatever his minor faults, is happy to come on and at least discuss matters that we ordinarily wouldn't be party to is to be appreciated and 'treasured'.

I'm not dragging this on further, just that I think he was claiming (rightly or wrongly) that he got more abuse for player signings than he got praise. As I say, I haven't be on Twitter, he could well be wrong. Hopefully no harm done, I wasn't having a go at you and although I don't always agree with stuff, I do enjoy reading your posts.

I am not sure anyone would expect you to give him a 'grilling' but they would expect him to get one if he went on Talksport and spoke to Adrian Durham. It is the choice of mouthpiece. You are a Palace related show and only an idiot would go out of their way to upset the owner of the entity they are following. Hol Radio is a platform for him to speak directly to the fans and get his point across without fear of an ambush. Some people would like him to be provoked into saying something unrehearsed or off message but I don't think that is your job. I don't think this thread is criticising you.

fair enough. Yes, can't be easy when you know he may not return for further shows. It just felt like a lot of it had an aim of us to think, oh that's alright then' about it. I don't think the memory of this 1 striker situation and SP claiming we should've kept Fraizer Campbell on and that's the answer to that is going to fade very quickly. Couldn't believe my ears. And he wanted to overrule Frank on that one. Dear me.

I am a fan of Parish and I love the fact that our Chairman is a Palace fan through and through. However, it does feel like he's slowly coming to a point where he needs to take a step back from the 'day to day' running on things and let the manager and a director of football take over. He really does sound far too involved in the little things than he should be now. Perhaps getting someone like Nicola Cortese (ex-Southampton DoF / CEO) would help.

Keep up the great work, maybe when dougie settled in he can give us more information on how the academy developing. Cheers Hambo.
