Fair play to our chairman for going on HOL radio, other supporters would love a chairman that done this. I'm still optimistic, after 10 games in our first season we had 3 points, and NINE losses. We finished 11th. Still a long way to go and confident we can get out of this. Be honest. Going on HOL is like Theresa May making a speech at the Tory Party Conference. It isn't exactly a hostile environment. They will be kissing his rear end as usual.

Personally, I don't think this isn't the best squad we've had. It isn't a patch on the 1990-91 squad that finished 3rd. Not even close! Your living in the past like SP,its tomorrow we are concerned with!

I applaud him for the "5 year plan" and essentially I think the fast tracking of this probably caught even the most optimistic by surprise. The problem that has lead to, in my opinion, is a lack of ideas. He has rightly done all he can to preserve our PL status up until now but whilst we have no right to nailed on safety, there comes a point where we have to start looking beyond splashing the budget in desperation for survival in January, just for the sake of scraping our way to survival. As I've said many times before, eventually your luck runs out as we've seen many times recently in the PL with Newcastle, Sunderland & Villa - 3 teams who by all accounts are more established with a better infrastructure than us. The problem for me is that I find it extremely difficult to feel any sympathy for any chairman who sacks a manager charged with (rightly in my opinion) changing the style of play and then sacking him after 4 games, regardless of the speculation of excuses or "other factors". It's about time the club start taking responsibility because it's seems to be a reoccurring theme and it appears the mistakes we make every year are not being learnt from. It's all well and good telling the fans to blindly worship the hierarchy, but I think the few years premier league survival, whilst being fantastic, has given us a false sense of security and has lead many to believe we've progressed far greater as a club than we actually have in reality. That's a fair point, and agreed 100% on bottling the switchover with FDB. That's the sort of thing you need to commit to, but it was very badly implemented all in all. You're right that the real test is what is there that will last beyond our next relegation - the infrastructure and development of the club is more important than whether we burn money on benteke and cabaye.

We don't expect to beat all of them. Just one of them would be nice and that is the point. Or just a draw against 1 of them. I got the same nonsense last year when I said we should be beating West Brom and Bournemouth at home. I was called arrogant for thinking so. Fact is there are certain teams we expect to beat and some expect to lose to.

I think Palace have come on a long way since the last administration. It takes time to build infrastructure, Southampton have had a bit of a head start. Land in London is scarse and expensive. The premier league money doesn't guarantee anything, we still have to abide by regulations and the council dictates. The academy trains at goals, so what!?? The pitches are fine, it's hardly slumming it. Every manager that has recently joined has spoken highly of the facilities. In 2010 Southampton were in League 1 and had just came out of administration. How were they ahead of us? Managers will hardly say anything negative about facilities, would they? Charlton and Millwall have a higher category academy than we do. Since 2010 it has been let go to a shambles.

They also had very wealthy new owners & no FFP to worry about with a non-football biased CEO who was given a plan & the finances to put it in place.

I agree there are too many lightweight 'supporters' who scream and shout about anything that doesn't go their own way for short term gratification. Well done SP, keep it going and ignore the temporary 'fans' the club has unfortunately picked up during the last 5 years. Edited by europalace (17 Sep 2017 7.03pm) Along with the myth that everyone who voted Brexit are racists not everyone who is unhappy with the decisions Parish has been making are plastics. We can unzip our flies and see who is the 'biggest fan' if you like but I find that kind of thing pathetic. People have been moaning about 'new fans' for as long as I remember. Maybe it's best we stuck at crowds of 3000 from the mid-eighties.
