Afterwards I sat with the pair of them discussing a possible move to Sunderland who were interested and whilst my mate went to make a call he (Dorian) asked me to explain his wageslip...poor sod was getting 2,000 a week for a Championship club. That was only 5 years or so ago...i'd like to think he's on more now at Bolton...but I doubt it somehow

Dervite has featured in Bolton squads this season but I don't know if he has actually played.I recall Chris Powell signing him for Charlton from a Spanish club.
I have a feeling that Dervite is a centre-half by trade but has played at left-back ?

Yes, you are entitled to your opinion even though you can't add up. My point was that 56 years of supporting puts things into perspective. If you can't stand set backs you shouldn't watch Palace.

There are so many people on this site that seem to set out to be happiness vampires. I await the next instalment with excitement and - frankly - amazement. Which other club would do some of the bizarre things we regularly do. Sit back, enjoy the ride and stop being a downer.

OK, I just woke up and thought, what's happening on the Hol and I see Dougie's picture . I thought another nostalgia piece... But wait a minute... WTF..

I leave you guys for a couple of hours and this is what happens. I would never have given him another job here but by the time I had read through about half of the responses and had a bit of time to think about it, I find that I am actually quite neutral about this.

We have come such a long way since he left. Part of me thinks bury the hatchet, the other half thinks bury the hatchet in him...

But he's back and I can't hold a grudge and I can see some positives to having him back.

He's been a very naughty boy but...

Welcome back Dougie.

Can anyone tell me exactly what he will be doing

PPS. I really hope this doesn't undermine Frank.

A director of football is a senior management figure at a football (soccer) club, most commonly in Europe. The exact nature of the role is often unclear and causes much debate in the sports media.

The presence of a director of football acts as an intermediary between the manager and the board and may relieve pressure on a manager by handling aspects away from day-to-day coaching, allowing a manager to focus on on-pitch performance. The director may also help to stabilise the club – many examples exist of director stepping in as a caretaker manager on the departure of the manager. The director – often an experienced football figure – may also positively advise a less experienced manager or the board of a less well developed club.

I was there with my dad Willo. Listening to a geezer that bought the radio with him for the other result once the final whistle was blown.

Arguably the best day out at a football ground I've ever had.

I can remember him scoring many more important goals though, and also listening to 5Live on the way home when he was scoring for Barnet with me thinking Barnet was some far away land in England.

You don't see many radios at football grounds these days !
After games, fans used to follow someone who had a radio to find out the other scores ! Before waiting to collect the 'Evening Standard classified' !

Well no of course not, that's Technology for you 😀

I guess I was about 12, 13 (not wanting to look up the exact date of the game) when we went up there. My dad (bless his heart) used to drive us home and away to all the games that l can remember in my lifetine so far. Good memories.

I can almost picture the moment ol' Perspicacious Parish was lying in bed and the lightbulb popped on above his noggin'.
"What am I going to do if and when it goes all tits up with Franky and I've got no more Allarpulis' to turn to" rings the question that's been racking his mind since only seeing one win in 5 of Franks 3-5-3 games, over and over again.
BING! I know! I've got it! Give them a club legend, so when he takes over and we go down anyway, the fans will clap and cheer anyway, because it's a legend! Stevie, you've done it again eeeeeheheheheheeeee!

Perhaps Dougie has shown an aptitude for all the football manager stuff that doesn't actually involve winning football matches?

If it helps FdB get us the performances and points we need then it will be proven to be a good move. If Dougie finds us the next Bolasie and Jedi for relative peanuts too, even better.

To Willo - but he DID score that goal at Stockport so your point is moot.

Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune)
