Let's hope that most people see what is really happening here. That started with the election of Regan as Goverener possibly, as president certainly. Suddenly its an issue?

Yeah look at them and their criminal damage so on a par with driving a car into a crowd of protesters and other acts of terrorism coomitted by neonazis and white 'nationalists'. I don't agree with them but stop trying to equate the two. They aren't the same thing. Wrong. They are exactly the same thing.

Wrong. They are exactly the same thing. Well except for the history of terrorism, murder, involvement in organised crime, and racism. Yes. Next you'll be claiming that the EDL are the same as Islam-4-Sharia et al.

In the context of his recent contributions and the perception that he has a dog in this fight is it really such a great idea that Trump just said "Sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments" on Twitter. This isn't a man trying to bring people together. This is another terribly timed interjection at a dangerous time designed to inflame th situation. I doubt he personally gives two s***s about these monuments.

Statues shouldn't always be viewed as commemorations but as reminders of the past. I wouldn't imagine that any right thinking person would glorify statues of slave traders or war criminals. However, they have a place in history and as such should remain where they are. Air brushing history is not a productive endeavour and lest we forget the struggles of the past.

I agree that they have a place, where the local community agree. If Trump had come out against the unlawful destruction of monuments very few would disagree. Instead he again finds a time and a way to stir up divisions. It's worth remember when most of these monuments appeared, largely decades after the civil war, at the rise of the KKK and as a response to the civil rights movement. Confederate monuments were erected during these fractious times in states that were not even part of the Confederacy (indiana, ohio). Those tell you as much about peoples politics as they do their history. We should leave it to the local communities to decide and arrest those who take the law into their own hands.

As to how to handle North Korea, here's that well known limp-dicked, progressive peacenik - and White House Chief Strategist - Steve Bannon on the subject: Quote
There's no military solution, forget it. Until somebody solves the part of the equation that shows me that 10 million people in Seoul don't die in the first 30 minutes from conventional weapons, I don't know what you're talking about, there's no military solution here, they got us.

There is no win-win solution to the NK issue. However, it's all about red lines. America wishing to protect its allies only extends so far. South Korea is not a state of the US.
