Really enjoying the RLC Puncheon combination but wondering if we would be better with Luka for Puncheon and pushing Puncheon out wide right.
Andros would have to move up front with Lokilo on the bench.

1st half disappointing, 2nd half much better thought RLC was superb power and pace in that midfield. Thought PVA was also great in the 2nd half. Can't wait for next week, when the real season starts. Coyp

A good run out. RLC and Lokilo looked good. I know its just a friendly and we are getting used to the new system, with which we look more comfortable each game but we look a bit toothless up front, of course with the exception of super wilf!!!!

Some additions still needed but we looked better in the system than we did last week and looked more composed in the last 15 than we did last week.

Well two things I got out of today's game
1 both teams need to pick up a striker before the season starts
2 Townsend needs to play up front he didn't enjoy himself today and forward up the pitch he's comfortable

Schalke should have won but we came into it more at end

Looks like de Boer can spot a player. The two signings were good and Lokilo looked composed and confident on ball though final pass lacking. Zaha is likely to provide 2-3 good chances per game

Right defence. Dont know if Luka was making a point but he either lost players or fouled them. I had hoped Townsend's effort would be good enough to make him a wing back but cant see it yet
Dann's passing was poor and playing it around at back just led to Speroni hacking it from goalline too many times
Puncheon has a smile that melts any managers heart. Sell him to Barcelona

Need different personnel for this system IMO,AP tried it and it failed. In defence of the team we are trying to play the new system against a team bought up playing that way. Think we needed more than 4 games to get this style working. We haven't done badly today and deserved more, but we said that many times last season.
Obviously the club are trying to bring in new faces, but I believe that all the wealth in the prem is now holding most teams back. Players are waiting around to see who comes a knocking now as all the teams below the top 7 now basically have the same wage budget. Therefore why jump at the first nibble. Last week of the window is gonna be busy IMO.

Err nope pssguy, If you bothered to actually look into it you'd find Schalke are a few cuts above Palace. As Mstrobez points out, last season was a poor one for them.

Their last 5 league finishes:
10th
5th
6th
3rd
4th

They're an irregular Champions League club. No directly comparable English club but perhaps some combination of Spurs/Liverpool/Everton.

Thought we looked pretty good today, main positives being RLC, PVA & Scott Dann. Hopeful for a good result next week when it really matters.

For once I agree with the commentator (ESPN), a good workout for both. Right now, we're better of with Mili in the midfield and Tompkins in the back with Dann and Jairo, Ward and PvB at wing back. I don't understand why Punch is getting so much stick here, I thought he played well but he may lose out to Loftus-Cheek who also did well. As of now, without anyone else being brought in, I'm undecided at keeper, Tomkins, Dann, Jairo, Ward, Mili, Punch/Loftus-Cheek, PVB, Townsend, Benteke, Zaha. Lokilo looks a like a good sub to bring on for fresh legs. As for keeper, Speroni did fairly well but didn't convince me he's the starter. Dann looks much better than last season when he was carrying all kinds of knocks. "Marion" looks like a sub these days, Delaney is now a reserve.

A much better second half. Let's hope that it can carry though to next weekend.

A good showing today. Brightest sparks for me were Loftus-Cheek, Riedewald, PVA and Lokilo's second half.

Luka is certainly out of position. Ward or Tomkins should be in there and Luka should replace Punch (though I love the guy).

I liked our pressing game. Perhaps because the defence isn't sorted we looked exposed down the flanks too much though. There's no way we can play that way on a big pitch away from home.

In some ways I thought we looked like a Pardew team but with more energy. I sincerely hope we meet expectations as this was a positive showing.

I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry.

This.

But by the simplistic logic people speak as if Leicester were automatically on par with Bayern and Barca in their title winning season.
