So you prescribe to the Holloway method, buying loads of cheap players hoping some will come good. Didn't work last time, why do you think it will now?
We have wasted money hand over fist on very average players over the last 3 or 4 seasons and you can't tell me that they were better players than some of the youngsters we have. I don't need to make a list because we all know who they are. The secret to bringing youngsters on is to play them alongside your established pros. Cabaye would love it if he had a youngster who was going to run around all day doing the donkey work so he could control the midfield better. Ultimately if you never play youngsters you will never know if they are going to be the next great player. There is room in the squad in my opinion for at least 2 or 3 of our U21s. I would wager FDB will probably try and reduce the average age of the team by at least a few years.

The argument, I believe, was about proven PL players. Had you ever heard of Milo before he joined us? My point was about him being unknown, not young. Originally posted by Painter
Milo was a Serbian full international whilst at Anderlecht and was 22 years old, hardly what you would call a youth. Your argument doesn't convince me, he was a proven international player, it just didn't work out for him in Holland.

A stronger squad, a better manager, and 5th straight PL, it's easier for us than at least 4 other PL teams. I don't give a continental sh1t about what others think of my opinion, Parish has a operating 'mode' where he waits and takes his time. In my view he is has a strong business personality and temperament, which is great in business as his success clearly shows, but needs to be calibrated to suit the frenetic pace of business in the PL. That's an opinion that if anyone looks at the history will be strongly supported. Parish is a legend for coming in from that environment and taking the reigns at CPFC and saving our club - should get a stadium named after him. But everyone can improve and not just the players. Parish can improve. He's great - should have a statue of him in Croydon - but he can improve. And how do you know this? I really doubt that every window he waits and doesn't do any sort of negotiating until near the end of a window. Just because we've signed a lot of players late in windows does not mean that Parish "waits" and does absolutely nothing before hand.

Just because we've signed a lot of players late in windows does not mean that Parish "waits" and does absolutely nothing before hand. Only last weekend I was speaking to someone who is involved in transfers at another club. He confirmed that so many factors come into play and negotiations can get really protracted for a plethora of reasons.Sometimes the process is relatively quick and sometimes it can be so frustrating.Supporters don't see what goes on behind the scenes, and assumptions are made which are often well wide of the mark. He added that sometimes a player is signed shortly after the club have been 'Linked' with the player in the media but negotiations could have been on-going for a while which supporters are not aware about.
