Willo - you are making assumptions for my views that you have no evidence for making. Just because I make a statement against JRM and the Tory right, it does not allow you to make assumptions that I support labour or the hard left. Polarisation of politics by people is what is poisoning this country (and the USA). Please consider that some people are not as Dogmatic and are far more nuanced than you give credit for. I would appreciate an apology but am not holding my breathe. Shame.

Let's have a proper thread about the man who should be our next Prime Minister. The good news is that odds are 'slashed' on JRM becoming the next PM: Here he is on Question Time: This country needs a traditional conservative prime minister and hopefully soon we will have one. Forgive me Matt, I've always thought you were a bit uneducated and a bit dim. Turns out you are a master satirist. Top post. Brilliant.

I find it amusing that when lefties are stood up to, and their prejudices revealed to them, their immediate reaction is to label their opponent as an 'ist' or thick. You are perpetuating that tradition, Epsom Revolutionary.

I'd prefer Mogwai for Prime Minister but Reece-Mogg will do.

Rees e-Mogg for PM? Seriously? A toxic vote loser if ever there was one, only less serious candidate would be Boris loser extraordinaire. Mind you, some would vote for a pig with a blue rosette (and plenty have)!

If you look back at the GE election results over the last 20 years you will see that on each occasion there have been far more Labour MPs than Conservative MPs in London so Boris Johnson won the mayoral vote in 'Labour London'.

London Mayoral campaigns were typically focused on the inner boroughs. What Boris did brilliantly was to appeal to the voters in the outer boroughs, whom typically did not vote in mayoral campaigns and won due to that. It is a strategy used by Labour the last election, who won London seats by appealing to a different demographic, the young. It may be convenient for you to dismiss Boris as an idiot, and I would add I do not wish for him to be PM, but he is brighter than you give him credit for.

You're absolutely right that he is intelligent but he is more of an academic and a political opportunist with the morals of Machiavelli. Not the leader that I want to see take power....not that we have much of a pool to choose from by way of any main political party at present. This , I believe, is one of the reasons that Tony Blair is able to obtain such a high profile in the news of late regarding views on EU.
