If it turns out to be £18m that would I think be good business for Palace, given that Arsenal paid £16m for him. .... It's effectively even better if he lives up to expectations as he moved to Arsenal in July 2014, tv money rocketed in July 2016, sending transfers 30% higher, and even higher this summer you can argue. He still has to produce consistently though. Edited by Rudi Hedman (25 Jul 2017 2.06pm)

I think it will get done but you know how slow,we move in this market, the player keen to leave Arsenal. 18m sounds about right. I think Arsenal want a buyback clause, which would scupper any potential sell on.

He knows mark bright and speaks to regularly. If it's bulls***, it's bulls***. Like said take as you will. Not saying it's gospel but he's pretty reliable. Edited by Dan89 (25 Jul 2017 1.50pm)

Get Chambers playing next to a beast (in the mould of Sahko/Indi) and we will be absolute class. He's not there yet but has potential to be. 18m in current market is borderline cheap as someone previously mentioned v the c.16m Arsenal paid for him. Edited by Naja1 (25 Jul 2017 2.00pm)

Edited by Dan89 (25 Jul 2017 1.50pm) It's useful info. As 'reliable' (or otherwise!) as the other rumours posted here! My personal conclusion is that work is ongoing to get Chambers onboard. Got to be good news, tho many a slip etc

Got to be good news, tho many a slip etc I think that it's pretty obvious that we are very interested in signing him as it's all the media pushing the same thing and not just one or two minor blogs. The thing that I was dubious about was the alleged buy back clause which I don't think Parish would go for

Like Man Utd with pogba, matic at Chelsea.

If we go ahead and sign Chambers which I am not against, I'm not entirely sure how we will be able to afford another CB (Sakho or not), a RWB which is clearly needed, a goalkeeper and a forward. We certainly won't be raking it in for anyone we sell to support this?

Zero upside for us it's not like it's a cheap fee. Who is this @chrisPalace and why is he saying it's literally done if the buy back clause is an issue...

There's nothing wrong with a buy back clause but it can't be for an arbitrary £28m as some people suggest is the figure. What happens if in 3 years he's worth £70m? ( price inflation etc ). Don't tell me that's not possible, What Palace should do is negotiate a buy back clause at market value less 10% to give Arsenal a good discount but not a ridiculous one. There is something called Arbiration if fair market value can't be agreed. Don't get screwed over Palace!
