Always makes me laugh when numpty's come out with stuff like this, saying that parish has to go is like me going into my boss today, who actually owns the firm and telling him to fcuk off out of it because I don't think he's doing a very good job!!

Well well well, all very Palace and all very HOL.

Very Palace to find ourselves yet again with a manager walking out in the close season.

Very HOL for reactions which beer from the bizarre to the bonkers.

Has he simply walked? Quite possibly. His wife stayed up north (shades of Dowie here.) But he was 6 months into a 2 1 year contract so I assume if he has retired he will not see that paid off.

He has also at least gone at a time we can appoint someone else and they can put their stamp on things. I would not want to see another Warnock style panic appointment.

If I understand correctly he had a six month break clause in the Contract, presumably to guard against relegation, but he has decided he is not up for it.

Personally I think he did a great job, he left at the earliest possible opportunity and did us a great service, even if he decided that he misses it so much that he takes another role I don't think he has done anything wrong. Even though I would have loved to see him stay.

Maybe he will now be seen as the go to guy for clubs in trouble in January. Hopefully that will not be us. Good luck to him, good luck to us.

That is all.

I'm seeing Neil Warnock tomorrow, I'll see if he's available to rescue us once again

I have my doubts that football management has seen the last of him.

He has a £3m villa in Moraira which is only an hour's drive up the AP7 motorway to Valencia and they always seem to be on the lookout for a decent manager

Right at this moment we don't need rescuing. All we need is a capable manager.

Well I, for one, am glad I'm thick. I can't see where all the doom merchants are getting this "it's happened against there must be a problem at the club" stuff from. SA has, according to him, decided that he's had his redemption & wants to enjoy life. Fair play, thanks for what you did for us Sam and enjoy your 'retirement'. Move on.

I have no reason to believe that there is any issue between him & Parish and if there was I reckon he'd say so - he's not exactly slow in coming forward on such matters.

The situation has no causational similarities to Pulis - he was a greedy, mendacious c*** (according to an arbitrator and an appeal court judge) who simply wanted another job back where he wanted to live in the Midlands as well as a big pile of cash. His excuse of "not being backed" was proven as b******t as was the content of the 'heated meeting'. I just don't get why folk don't simply read the court transcript and judgement, realise exactly what went on then just forget about it & look forward.

Ok, we need a new manager but at least SA had the decency to give us time to sort it.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

Shame that his decency didn't extend to hanging around for a few weeks to help Parish with the transition as there are decisions to make regarding expiring contracts, players to sell and new players to buy before everyone half decent is snapped up

We need to prepare for this in the future. Get the squad depth right and then try and emulate Southampton, who always have players in mind and managers in line for when things change.

That because they have a good Director of Football!

As for the OP's original proposition, all that I can say is, be careful of what you wish for.
