To secure for the workers by hand or by brain the full fruits of their industry and the most equitable distribution thereof that may be possible upon the basis of the common ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange, and the best obtainable system of popular administration and control of each industry or service?
We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

Sounds fair to me. Public ownership of national assets is a lot more patriotic than allowing French, Chinese etc etc firms run them for profit.

Renationalisation of many services and amenities has majority support in this country. You call yourself patriotic no doubt, but seem quite happy to let foreign concerns profit from what should be national assets.

You don't think all means of production, distribution and exchange were under state control in communist states?

Apart from freedom of movement it seems. How could a fully planned socialist state allow freedom of movement? By definition it would mean unplanned movements of people. How can you plan your 'from each according to their ability, to each according to their needs', when the 'each' is a constantly moving target.

You like freedoms, except freedom of movement, fair enough. Helping other humans shouldn't be a left / right issue. I think we should do whatever we can to help those fleeing war terror or persecution, not build walls and shut them out. You don't it would seem. Edited by nickgusset (01 Apr 2017 11.13pm)
